This is a truly FREE version of a branch from OpenOffice. It represents progress away from the stagnating Oracle run OpenOffice project.
It bombs. That is unacceptable when composing text. Better luck next update.
LibreOffice is a branch off the now stagnating OpenOffice Open Source project. Once Oracle purchase Sun Microsystems, the OpenOffice project essentially ground to a halt. ? of the volunteer programmers started LibreOffice to continue its progress. Oracle booted them from the overall OpenOffice project in response.
In light of the MANDITORY "donation" required for NeoOffice v3.2 (which is indeed a contradiction in terms), LibreOffice has become the next best option for Mac users.
Sadly, LibreOffice has been consistently unstable and bombing since its initial release. This is unacceptable while composing text. Until such time as the stability problem is solved, I cannot recommend it. Apart from the stability problem, LibreOffice promises to be an excellent replacement for NeoOffice.
