Pros

"Legacy Family Tree - The Primitive Family Tree Software"
Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Cons
My biggest complaint is the restrictions built into the software by the designers when it comes to trying to record complex family relationships -- to the point that it was un-usable for my work. Good luck with this Legacy program ...

"This producet won't open my ged.file"
Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Pros
I would like to start my family tree and put the surname in the database on this progrom. (gedfile)

"Good...No wait I take that back..."
Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Cons
The program is very bulky to work with. The so-called "charts" are so WICKED (I say that in a bad way...;) ) I kept messing up. They probably never updated the (And I quote) "software" in the last thousand years or so... If I could, I would give it 0.25 stars... But then again... It's free

"This is Nagware, not Freeware!"
Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Pros
It has quite a number of features... if you decide to buy it!
Cons
The menu and toolbar has lots of buttons you better not press... all they do is present you a "buy the full version" type of dialog. Thanks a lot for calling that freeware, folks. Yes I do buy software, but not after being tricked like this.

"Not really free, and difficult to use"
Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Pros
Very fully fetured, can save all sorts of information including photos, and has links to various web sites etc.
Cons
Very clunky, difficult to understand interface. Can't see how to get a basic tree view out of it. Many features disabled unless you purchase the deluxe edition.

"Absolutely comprehensive and fairly easy to use"
Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Pros
I have tried nearly all the other genealogy programs and this one beats them all in every respect (and is just about the cheapest software around).
Cons
Could do with some user specified reports and a more comprehensive search function.

"SOME FEATURES DISABLED!"
Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Pros
It seems to have alot of valuable features.
Cons
Decendants, Chronology, and index are all disabled. You must purchase the Deluxe edition to use these features. There may be others that are disabled as well. I didn't waste any more time trying to find out!

"i've tried them all - this is the BEST!"
Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Summary
i can't speak highly enough of this much underrated software. a few years ago, i downloaded the legacy free version and in minutes i was back at the legacyfamilytree site paying for the very inexpensive deluxe version. free or paid, you get your money and your precious *time's* worth from this program. i've never seen a review do justice to its ease of use (including its sources wizard), its built-in reporting and charting capapbilities, its ease in importing from other programs - oh just its sheer flexibility. it is customisable at just about every turn. it's got the best to-do component on the market, and its event fields can easily be configured to keep your research notes and all associated email messages right in the program itself. you can mark just about anything you want as private and then choose or choose not to reveal your private information in its reports. in the deluxe version, you get free geographic databases and complete multimedia capabilities - sound, pictures, slideshows, and web pages. you can make pdf versions of your reports with absolute ease (within the print preview function). do yourself a favor. no matter what you've used or tried in the past, check out this program. it converted me from a genealogy dabbler into a genealogy addict almost overnight.
