Version: Legacy Family Tree 5.0
Pros: NONE....the developer/marketer company is the CON!!! It is NOT free if you want the "whole" program!! I GAVE THIS ONE STAR BECAUSE THE INTERFACE WOULD NOT LET ME GIVE IT "0" STARS....
Cons: Yes this software 'is' a CON!!!! If it is free...it should be free and not a leader to hook you into buying it. No matter how good it is, after being misled, I would never buy from this kind of garage-sale marketing. This is not the first and will not be the last occurance of this kind of lack of ethics. I do buy software, in fact, to date I have spent over $37,000 in personal software, games, OS', etc. So free is not a motivator to me. In fact I rarely do a "free to try" program. I never get to it all withing the grace period, so I just buy it...that's why I have boxes of unused software games etc.

Pros: OK, i see post its not free. You get nothing for nothing.If you wish to have a program this good thats absolutely free spend the next few years building it.Once you get Legacy on your computer register and unlock it asap.Now the free part of Legacy is more than enough for a person just starting later you will most likely upgrade and not whine at all.thanks

"I really like this software! I have tried a cpl, but this one fits my needs!"
Pros: It is very thorough and all the options it has are great!
Cons: There is nothing about it I don't like!

"Very good tool in basic free mode or deluxe"
Pros: I have used this software for years in it's basic form. I found it more than adequate and very easy to understand. Seemed very logical to me. Then I decided I liked it so much I bought the Deluxe version and I discovered it was even better. You need to use some of the features frequently so that you can remeber how to initiate the procedure. But each time I use it I find yet another thing it does! It does all I need, storing data, photographs and recordings, backups, web page creation, printing reports, saving todo lists etc. I love it. If you use the basic version and don't want nagging messages saying "this feature is only available in the deluxe version" - stop requesting those tasks!

"Not really free, just trialware"
Pros: Easy to read if your eyesight is failing
Cons: Can't export gedcom files back out of the program
