Illustrator-originated artwork has become a standard part of motion graphics. With LayerLink, Motion's support for Illustrator is now on par with Adobe After Effects, the gold standard for Illustrator integration.
LayerLink is a Motion plugin that adds an "Import Illustrator as Project..." command to Motion's File menu. LayerLink imports an Illustrator file as a Motion project, keeping layer settings, names, and visibility intact. You can scale, rotate, move, apply filters and animate each layer separately using all of the tools Motion has to offer.
But LayerLink goes beyond mere importing. If you update a layer in Illustrator, that layer is automatically updated in Motion. You can even add new layers you create in Illustrator to your existing Motion project, or substitute one layer for another. You can also group multiple layers together in Motion and manipulate them as though they were a single layer.
