"Worst product I have ever used!"

    June 27, 2012  |   By dono1junocom

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

    Easy set up

    Cons

Does not work. Locked me out of many sites. RoboForm is hands down easier and works every time.

    Summary

    Very disapointed

"NEW USERS: STAY AWAY - FAR AWAY"

    June 23, 2012  |   By TRC_42

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

    Can't think of any, sorry

    Cons

Buggy, costly, insecure. What used to be a good product now stinks on ice. 4 years of being a loyal user. $12/month? Ads in my Vault? Bugs in updates that wipe out all my browser add-ons?

Sorry LastPass. Last chance blown, last time I use it.

    Summary

Greed, deceit and incompetence. Great combination - for LastPass. For users? Bad software, bad security, bad idea.

    "Can't say I'm 100% happy..."

    June 11, 2012  |   By LABlackledge

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

I believe most other reviews have defined the pros and for the most part, I agree with those.

One surprise was during the installation. It asks do you want to import your IE/Chrome passwords, I said yes thinking it will need my Windows password to decrypt them. Nope! It imported them, showed them too me and had a note saying "did you think it was that easy for a program to know all of your passwords? When malware is installed on your PC, the hackers take your passwords as well as the URL they are associated with. Never allow browsers to store your passwords.". This was a good education.

    Cons

LastPass has a sign in/out mode via a button in the browser. I expected it to log off when the PC goes to sleep. It triggers off of the browser being open or closed. Each time you bring up the browser and need to enter a password you do it once, then Lastpass is logged on and will enter all future passwords until you close the browser. If I leave a browser open and the laptop is stolen, when/if the thief can get my PC running (past Windows password) Lastpass will still be ON/logged-in and allowing access to all of my password protected sites. This may be a remote possibility, but rather have Lastpass disable when the PC sleeps.
Lastpass requires a rather strong password: capital, small, number, symbol. Secure, but not so easy to type.
I do a lot of international travel, thus may affect this issue: I get a "cannot connect to the Lastpass server" error ~twice a day when browsing and a password is required.

    Summary

I really want a password program that has a user model based on Window's password. i.e. requires a password when I log into Windows and secures my data when I put the computer to sleep.

"I should have installed this sooner..."

    June 8, 2012  |   By gbcox

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

Runs on multiple browsers, has a mobile version for android and iphone, you can bundle with Xmarks and get a package deal for advanced functionality. Easy to create, use and manage passwords of ridiculous complexity. If you decide to switch between mutiple browsers, no problem. Has multiple options for two factor authentication which are free (i.e. Google Authenticator), supports Yubikey. Great documentation that is simple to read and understand. Unobtrusiive interface... you don't know it is there unless you need it.

    Cons

None that I have encountered. This product is fantastic. As I said in the summary, I should have installed this sooner. I've read some comments about security breaches - do a quick google search, you'll find this was a non-event and instead proved Lastpass knows their business and how to respond to protect your data. Also, your data is encrypted - Lastpass can't decipher it, so they warn you - you better not forget your master password.

    Summary

Excellent package. Do yourself a favor and install it... also, give Xmarks a try... you'll be glad you did. Oh, and if you can afford it, pay the $20 / year for the enhanced version. It is well worth it.

    "In the cloud . . ."

    June 1, 2012  |   By MisterURL

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

It sounds like it does a good job.

    Cons

I can't believe I am the only one with concerns about having all my passwords saved in the vaporous bit storm of the ether. What with server outages, hackers, and business failures, the content of the cloud is in a state of constant turmoil. Why not provide the option of saving them locally? Let me take care of encryption, backup, and intruder prevention. And as as added benefit, if MY server is down, I won't be using the web anyway so won't need passwords.

    Summary

In my opinion, this would be near-perfect if it offered the option to save the passwords on the local drive.

    "Not like Norton Identity Safe"

    May 23, 2012  |   By SeaNetWorthy

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

Annually cheap at any price (Pro version)

    Cons

Changing the listing of logins/sites (if their are many) in the drop-down menu is NOT user-0changeable; like alphabetic forward/revers, by date of last or first use, etc. Needs to fixed, and hasnt for years.

    Summary

"This key aspect of LastPass, the cloud-based storage, is then followed by an option to remove all your locally stored passwords. This prevents them from being compromised after you've begun using LastPass, although it also means that you will be tied to LastPass from that point. You can always export your passwords later, although after using the add-on for more than a year we've had no problems."

No. Lastpass is asking if you want to delete the OLD Username/passwords IT HAS JUST IMPORTED FROM OTHER BROWSERS. Lastpass is NOT asking if you want to delete YOUR local copy of LASTPASS's just-now encrypted passwords, ONLY the ones it IMPORTED, like from SeaMonkey or FireFox or whatever.

Got Tools/Security Check - this gives you a VERY easy way to find and re-manage duplicates. I have over 1000 sites managed, and the check took 20 seconds - and I have some work to do!

    "Is this safe?"

    May 21, 2012  |   By ML196006

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

I use Roboform and decided to use lastpass free version to see what it has to offer. I like the password wallet app and i also like two step authentication, which RF does not have.

    Cons

I don't like the fact that I can request to reset my master password. If someone hacks in my email they can get my lastpass info sent to my email address and reset my master password and have access to all of my information that easily!

    Summary

Id rather stick with a password manager that doesnt know your master password because the fact that it can be reset makes me uneasy and i dont know if i can sleep at night with all my bank info and logins being that easy to access.

    "Best PW manager yet."

    May 14, 2012  |   By ladygeek-IT

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

    1. Same password manager for all my devices (PC's and smartphone)and 3 different browsers.
    2. Autofill works well.
    3. I only have to enter the information once for all password-dependent applications.

    Cons

I just added the smartphone app and it works differently and I haven't been able to figure it out. I don't use it that much on my smartphone that much but I can see that it would be very handy if you are using a computer not on your personal computers which eliminates the need for a flash drive which is also a security issue.

    Summary

In the past, I've used Password Corral and Password Safe. Password Corral was the first password manager I'd used. Before that, like most SysAdmins used a little memo pad to manually keep track of passwords. I use Windows mostly now - Solaris & Linux in the past so there are alot of choices. While Windows itself can manage passwords as well, we all know how secure that is!!

Password Safe is the one that I've used the most but the biggest irritant with that is when you use more than 1 PC, you have to keep a separate Password Safe on each PC which is a pain if you want to sync it.

    "Works just as described"

    May 14, 2012  |   By erothjr

    Version: LastPass Password Manager 1.90

    Pros

Keeps track of passwords with some flexibility with what to keep and what not to keep, as well as being very unobtrusive with a small footprint.

    Cons

if you're looking for a password vault that displays your passwords and lets you edit and such like a database, then this is not what you're going to need.
