"Stick with "The Sims" instead"
Pros: Fun distraction, cheaper than The Sims 2, good variety of options, very good graphics, easy learning curve.
Cons: For fans of The Sims, this will feel like the first few minutes of gameplay repeated ad ininitum.
What did I dislike? Gameplay lacked depth, and the demo too short to get real feel for how challenging game may or may not be, graphics were very good looking but were just "still lifes": no cut scenes much less any animation.

Pros: The graphics were OK.
Cons: It didn't make much sense. I played out just a few scenes, and found that it wasn't very accurate. For example the girl was always tired and bored. Well in the game you can reduce this by certain activities- so I did all that I could to fix her remedy. She was always tired and bored even though the meters said she wasn't- ok confused there.
But the thing that I thought was really rude was a doggone housefly crawling around on the screen under the icons and actually crawling all over the place. Was this supposed to be a clue to clean house?
It freaked me out so I cleaned house alright, uninstalled the whole thing.
SIMS are 100% better than this.

Pros: Menus and interface look sleek and are pretty easy to use. There aren't tons of graphics, but they all look really good. Addicting, if you enjoy this type of game.
Cons: The tutorial kept bombing out on me. It took me three times to download successfully, but that is likely just my computer. The demo is much too short for you to do a lot.
