A bevy of desktop bells and whistles awaits in Konfabulator, as long as your desires are modest and your system can spare the memory. The widgets on offer are slick but simple: battery indicators, clocks, stock tickers, and newsreaders, to name just a few. The ambitious and savvy can craft custom widgets with XML and JavaScript (and the ambitious and aspiring can download an extensive manual on the developer site). Note that these gewgaws will take up to 2MB of system memory when running. For finding those small, specific enhancements you simply must have, Konfabulator is your tool.

If you are the tinkering type and like lots of info and really cool looking widgets readily available at your fingertips, then this is the program for you!!! If you can afford to use up over 8Mb's of memory to download this neat program on your system try it!!!! It does become a resource hog if you run several widgets all the time, but you can pick and choose what you want displayed and how many at a time. It is completly customizable, and has oodles of widgets to choose from, I use the weather, digital clock, memory gauge,and cpu portal just to name a few.

Can be quite a system hog if you run a lot of resource hogging widgets constantly.Other than that, nothing.

This program is fun, but useful. "Widgets" are downloadable and include weather, calendar, IP locator, and many, many other great ones.
Cons
The weather widget wouldn't load sometimes on my machine, but I reloaded it and the problem dissapeared. Not a big thing..

Konfabulator provides a great collection of widgets to fill your desktop with stuff. The website has a huge collection of widgets which can be downloaded and added to your desktop. Widgets include simple news windows to a dancing Pikachu. Most of all , its free.

Literally hundreds of widgets to choose from...some extremely usefull, some are very silly,random,funny,and some are useless and buggy. Very addictive. Once you start downloading new widgets, you may have a really difficult time stopping.
Cons
All of my other programs ran fine with only 256k ram and a laptop. The only time my processor got bogged down was when I was running Konfabulator and Paint Shop Pro X at the same time. Never became bogged down using paint Shop Pro IX and Konfabulator simultaneously.

By the very nature of widgets, it's extremely customizible and flexible. There's a widget for nearly everything. If there's not, you can make one. Ability to bring up all widgets without showing the desktop, set transparency on widgets, etc.
Cons
I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a gig of RAM, as it can really eat resources. Turn it off before you start gaming.

Pros
This program gets 5 stars for easy to use, functionability, and just plain cool. I am able to load up my own widgets onto my desktop; getting the weather, movie times, my own schedual, and a virtual ipod right on my desktop. Konfabulator has saved me so much time. Definately worth looking into.
Cons
I can't seem to find an option to have Konfabulator not start up on windows start up.

Pros
Software is Free. The setup is simple. No spyware or adware on it. The widgets are very useful.
Cons
No business widgets yet. Every widgets eats 8-15Mb. Not for slow PC's and with min 512Mb Ram.
