"Junk! Doesn't Work."
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
Too many errors. Seems more like alpha software than a stable release.
Cons
I had multiple DLL errors
Summary
The first time I tried to run it, the program gave an error that xpcom.dll was not found. I downloaded that DLL and tried again. The second time it said that mozreg.dll was not found. Downloaded that DLL and tried a third time. The third time I got an error of:
"---------------------------
kompozer.exe - Entry Point Not Found
---------------------------
The procedure entry point ?StringBeginsWith@@YAHABVnsACString@@0ABVnsCStringComparator@@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library xpcom.dll. "
I shouldn't have to search all over the Internet for missing DLLs. A program should come with the necessary files to make it work. I guess I'll stick with Notepad++. -
"NOT a WYSIWYG"
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
Not a WYSIWYG editor.
Cons
The owners describe this as a "WYSIWYG" program. It is not.
Summary
This program may be great at what it does, but calling it a WYSIWYG editor gets you the lowest rating.

"Good as far as it goes"
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
Fairly simple to use, a decent alternative to the high priced software on the market.
Cons
The only CON I have about Kompozer is that it requires at least some knowledge of HTML editing. The Help file isn't all that helpful regarding how to use the software, and there's no tutorial, visual or text, that I've been able to find.

"So easy to use, but a few problems"
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
It's free, and easy to use immediately
Cons
A little buggy for me. Has crashed a few times, but will restart with no problem.

"Just as good as Dreamweaver :)"
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
I lost my Dreamweaver 8 install, and was forced to look for an affordable alternative. This is the best - you won't be disappointed!

Hi everyone, it's November 2012 and I have an update to my review. Our new site design consists of the most current use of div and css techniques, and (of course) a slideshow carousel that is sourced from jquery. Our new template was designed and initially coded outside of Kompozer.
Updated on Nov 11, 2012
Here's the problem, and why I will NEVER trust this software again.
Upon loading the template into Kompozer, everything looked fine, and although the slideshow did not display, I continued to add text content, and saved the template. Well guess what!
It TOTALLY blew out the original code. It didn't like wrapper divs, so it "closed" them prematurely. It also REWROTE our doctype tag from simple to transitional. As for the slideshow, we had to re-write the div styles from scratch to get it back, costing a whole days worth of hours to debug all the affected lines of code.
Unacceptable. And very disappointing.
It's ok for basic web page development, but cannot handle (or obey) advanced div/css coding. BOO! -
"Works for me"
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
On par with all the fancy ones.
-
"really good webpage editor"
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
This is really good software at a really good price.
I use the portable version of this software too, and it also works in Vista
Cons
The fact that it doesn't properly install is a downside, but that also makes removing it easy

"excellent wysiwyg editor!"
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
i'm a webprogrammer conversant with html and js,
and i've used dreamweavers, flash, etc.
i find kompozer extremely satifactory in terms of easy wysiwyg designing.
even if you know nothing about html, you can make tables,
change fonts as if you do those in MS-Word.
if you do know html/javascript and want to work directly with it,
you can easily do so in "source mode" just as you would in dreamweaver.
a great product in itself and its freeware status
only adds to its value.
Cons
you get to download a zip file, and it simply unzips
into a designated directory. after that, you need to dbl click on
'kompozer.exe' in that directory to run this program.
so i had to create a shortcut of that icon onto program-start menu.
all these hassle could have been avoided if kompozer had offered
a standard install-wizard like many other freewares still do.
having said that, such inconvenience can be easily forgiven now that
it is a freeware and its functionality is rich and convenient
as other commercial web editors.

"Convenient for Editing Multiple Documents Simutaneously"
Version: KompoZer 0.7.10
Pros
I love the tab feature, menu choices - a real lightweight utility that is easy to learn and use. I'm only doing simple editing now - the same thing on several documents and the ease of this program is a huge help - it did say it works with CSS - but I haven't tried it yet. I really like the simplicity and convenience of this program.
