"My bad experience with Treo 600"

I had similar problem with intermittent playbank of iTunes-encoded AAC files. I did hard reset of Treo 600, as recommended by Kinoma tech support. This resolved the problem, but appeared to introduce more serious ones.

I noticed static interference, whenever I would (inadvertently) touch the headphone adaptor. My Treo began to soft reset itself frequently. I soon lost my ability to make any voice calls.

While these issues may have had nothing to do with Kinoma, it was an unfortunate coincidence. I am a heavy user of my Treo. I have installed, uninstalled and use dozens of applications on my Palm, but never with as apparently as serious an issue as this.

I have now upgraded to a Treo 650, but I will not be installing Kinoma Player until I am better assured by the company and other users that there are no issues with it playing iTunes-encoded AAC files.

As for features, ease of use, etc., it remains an inexcusable absence not to have continuous playback by default, as well as background playback.

To be fair, it is commendable that anyone is actually trying to achieve this feature on a device other than the iPod.

"Not ready for prime time..."

Bought the version 3.0.1 of Kinoma Player on the basis of reviews at TreoCentral and elsewhere. The product is virtually unuseable. Installation of the player was simple, but then .w4a files created w/ iTunes wouldn't load via the HotSynch. Ultimately it took a hard system reset to get past that problem. After loading songs to the Treo 600, Kinoma initially didn't recognize their presence on the SD card. Another deletion/reinstallation of the program fixed _that_ problem. Finally started playing music, but the Treo's speaker hardly qualifies as hi-fi so I plugged in the headphones. Problem is, headphones don't work! They work fine with the phone, so I don't know what that's all about. Gave up on the 'phones after a couple of minutes of twiddling and got to work on other stuff w/ Treo playing beside me on the desk. I quickly became annoyed to discover that the full-fidelity AAC songs I was paused for about a second every minute or so - presumably a buffer problem. Became outright angry to realize that choosing the menu stops the music, you can't set up a playlist and the "album" selection to view your music yields a jumbled order of songs. FWIW, the documentation is complete. Very short, but complete. I gave up. I really feel like Kinoma suckered me. Final advice - TRY before you BUY! Even with options in this market so limited, ya gotta really have a hard-on for the AAC format before the Kinoma Player can satisfy you. Back to mp3...

I have just upgraded from version 1.5.1 and find no radical difference apart from no longer crashing at the end of each movie. The sound quality remains terrible: A shame because the images are stunning. There is a curious bug in this version: Press the 'full screen' icon and the audio level drops 70%! You can get the sound back by reselecting the film and not using full screen mode.
PROS: Excellent image quality; improved stability.
CONS: Awful sound quality; bug in sound.
