    "C'mon Samsung... REALLY? (1.5 Stars)"

    December 7, 2014  |   By CitySlickster

    Version: Kies 2.6.1.13105

    Pros

    1. Your Samsung phone will be recognize-able for you to transfer Files.
    2. Easily Sync Files to your Samsung Device

    Cons

    1. NO OPTIONS to RATE your music files. (What on EARTH? For real?)
    2. NO equalizer / sound altering options other than volume up and down.
    3. NO OPTIONS to edit viewable category items / NO sorting Options
    4. Issues have been ongoing and UNRESOLVED / Lagging further Development
    5. Not compatible with Syncing Playlist files from ITUNES / possibly other developers as well.
Note: Although ITUNES is direct competitor, being that Apple commands the attention, respect, and common knowledge of Apple existence and products amongst media player users across the globe, Samsung kind of shoots themselves in the foot by developing such a Unique and AHEAD OF IT'S TIME device with the Samsung Galaxy Series' devices, but failing very noticeably miserably at developing such an application to draw or steal attention away from Apple. This one feature alone may cause enough users to FAIL at an attempted switch to Kies and be SO upset or lose SO MUCH that they may run from Samsung ALL TOGETHER.

    Summary

All in All... And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SAMSUNG... I have a Samsung HD TV 2 Galaxy Note 3 phones and an Older Samsung Galaxy S3... Being that Apple pretty much OWNS the "Digital Media Player World", Samsung really should have taken a better effort to give them competition. I'm guessing most ATTEMPTED converts will make the same decision I am going to make... Although Samsung has really cool features The Air Touch and Voice Commands... I am an Older guy so that stuff really doesn't matter to ME. The MEDIA PLAYERS is absolutely the MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE on the phone to me next to GPS and Text Messaging... Which you can get with ANY Smartphone now... We as previous ITUNES users trying to Switch to Samsung will feel the MOST pain without a doubt. 4 years I have dealt with Sync issues between Itunes and my Samsung phones. I have 3 times attempted to switch to Kies but the options are so... Wait... there ARE NO OPTIONS! If you want something that plays music and Grandma or the Babies can change songs because its SO BASIC... FINE... but if you want BASS... To RATE YOUR MUSIC... To ADD FILES AUTOMATICALLY all of the things we call Normal now thanks to Apple... Better stay away from Kies. When my next upgrade comes around, if Samsung still has no fix... I may have to Cheat on them because I AM NOT HAPPY in this relationship anymore Samsung!

    "Worst software upgrade system"

    August 1, 2014  |   By Dennis_TBL69

    Version: Kies 2.6.1.13105

    Pros

Nothing, Nadda, Nyet, Nein, Non, Naye..

    Cons

Everything about it.. Crashes, locks up, wipes out..

    Summary

They have arguably the best smart phone on the market yet their brain dead developers cannot develop an upgrade software system to compliment Galaxy's.. Once if F**Ked me up with my 1st Galaxy 4 which is summarily crashed and wiped out everything, I will always recommend to avoid like the plague it has become.

    "Complete and utter crap!"

    May 20, 2014  |   By lrbassmom

    Version: Kies 2.6.1.13105

    Pros

    none that I can see

    Cons

Kies3 will bloat your Outlook, mangle your records, and eat up memory on your phone

    Summary

I THOUGHT Kies3 was going to be like 2.6, which was excellent for syncing my phone, calendar, media with Outlook. 2.6 would allow you to choose how much to sync, how far back, and would explain if file was deleted on phone or on Outlook. None of that exists with Kies3. Kies3 is complete and utter crap. 3.2 took away functionality (no! I do NOT need to sync 10 years of past calendar appointments), and cannot tell the difference between records deleted on phone and records deleted in Outlook.

Not only that. It will create multiple calendar items, over and over. The only way to clean up my phone was to delete unwanted, past calendar items in Outlook and then uninstall Kies.

Seriously, GET RID OF IT! You do not want this anywhere near your computer. Or your phone.

I'm not sure what this bloatware does to media but I believe it when the previous reviewer said it mangled their mp3 files.

I've previously used Companionlink and that did a pretty solid job. Although I don't want 2 different calendars on my phone. But if that is what it takes to straighten out my calendar. So be it.

I love my Galaxy S3, but really really really HATE Kies 3!

"Only delivers on part of its promise"

    May 6, 2014  |   By pmignini

    Version: Kies 2.6.1.13105

    Pros

Transfers wifi, bluetooth, texts and select other settings

    Cons

Does not move apps, just some app settings.
Does not move home page or screen settings.
    Does not move email accounts.

    Summary

Had to factory reset my phone, and used Kies on my Galaxy S4 (Verizon) to help with the restoration. Although it did transfer some things - text history, some app settings, wifi networks, a few other things - it was not the catch-all it claims to be. No apps were restored even though I selected this option. No email accounts were transferred. From what I've read, apparently this software is hit or miss. So, it doesn't hurt, but it doesn't help that much.

The fact that a seamless Android backup still does not exists blows my mind.
