"good but not great"
Version: KidLogger 1.4
Pros
quick, easy to use
Cons
stealth could be better, logging isnt 100% accurate
Summary
It doesn't seem to be totally accurate in capturing keystrokes, and sometimes the result is confusing even if it is correct. Example: something like "name@email" is rendered as "name2[shift]email" . Also, keystrokes are sometimes picked up in the wrong order (only seen this once so far, but i'm sure it was the program and not me.. during testing, I logged into my email account, which worked properly indicating that I had typed the name correctly, but the key log showed the name with two of the letters transposed). This is the only keylogger I have ever tried, so I don't know if this is just something to be expected with any software, or if it's a flaw in the program. Another small complaint: all keystrokes captured are logged in all upper-case. (Although for my purpose I don't really care; I'm trying to monitor for inappropriate usage in general, not trying to actually log into someone's email or anything) In any case, even if not 100% accurate, it's enough to get a pretty good idea of what is being done with the computer.
Overall, it's free and gets the job done. I think I'll stick with this one.
Oh, one other thing: THIS PROGRAM IS A KEYLOGGER. ANTIVIRUS/MALWARE DETECTORS ARE MADE TO DETECT KEYLOGGERS. If you get warnings from your antivirus while installing this, it's because you are in fact installing (potentially) malicious software. This doesn't mean that this program is going to steal your bank account - the antivirus program doesn't know that you intended to install a keylogger, and so is doing its job protecting you. In order to monitor someone else while the antivirus is running, you should configure the antivirus to allow exceptions and specify this program. That way, the truly malicious stuff will be blocked but the antivirus will let the logger continue unaffected. -

"Excellent software. Exactly what I was looking for .... let me tell you why"
Version: KidLogger 1.4
Pros
I needed someting that I could copy from a USB key and get up and runing on a cheeting spouse's laptop in seconds.
I loged in with the guest account, copyed the files to one of the networked shared folders, created a windows short-cut to MainWnd.exe (with the -m option for silent run) and put the shortcut into the "all users" start-up folder in the documents and settings folder. (NOTE: you have to use the "MainWnd.exe -m" command line option for SILENT mode!!)
I loged off and walked away. Literally 1 minute operation. If I can do it, you can too. Note: I practiced on another computer a few times.
Install the software on any computer just to get MainWnd.Exe and Hook.Dll. These are the only 2 files you really need. Place the files in a networked shared folder that you can access remotely. *Note that with windows xp, if the folders are shared, you can access them if the laptop is on, with or without the main user loging in.
Perfect for determining if you have a cheeting spouse.
Cons
if the user turns OFF the computer (usoposed to loging off), unless the computer is turned on the NEXT day, you loose the day's log.

"Simple effective program"
Version: KidLogger 1.4
Pros
How to make Kidlogger almost undetectable: When I installed it I just unchecked where it offers to put it in start menu. After installation, I moved the desktop icon to my Documents folder and renamed it. You could also rename it under programs in the file tree. I doubt any kid that's not a total computer geek would find it. It captures a picture of your desktop every 15 minutes and logs keystrokes and programs. It works and it is absolutely free. I'm happy.
Cons
Not sure if it automatically deletes files after a certain period of time since I have not used it very long.
