but at $36.00 it seems rather steep.
Yes, it does LOTS else, for sure.
Wish there was a lite ver. for those who just want to be able to program the Apple KB. -
"Fast, keyboard, macro interface"
Version: Keyboard Maestro 2.1.1

Keyboard Maestro is a great app. While Apple has made progress with their Keyboard Shortcuts program, within System Preferences, it isn't close to matching the intuitive feel of KM, let alone the features.
I use it in Terminal for ssh signins & ftp downloads. The open Application feature makes launching simple & quick. The mouse movement & click support has numerous uses when reaching for a mouse or trackpad is far from the fastest solution. Opening any folder with a hotkey is one of my most used options, as it makes getting to documents, images, music so much easier.
Simple to setup, it makes my Mac fly! -
"Solid Time Save"
Version: Keyboard Maestro 2.1
Summary

I use Keyboard Maestro for some relatively simple things, pasting in batches of text, automating series of mouse clicks and such. I've always found it to be stable and reliable. For $20 this has saved me considerable time and - just as or more importantly - considerable where and tear on my wrists etc. from bouncing through chunks of data with repetitive typing and mousing.
The one weak spot for me is in setting up the mouse movements, which seems to require entering in the coordinates for where you want to move/click the mouse.
It's nice to have the Universal Binary update, but the previous version was working just fine on my Intel based system. -
"Acrobat support?"

Seems neato until you try to use it in Acrobat... good luck. -
"Does the trick!"
Version: Keyboard Maestro 2.0.3

We needed to enter about 8 different things into a Filemaker database off a website (photo research). This speeds the process up dramatically because we just create a clipboard for each thing we need to store and then a macro to tab between fields and paste the different clipboards.
My single complaint is that the clipboards don't seem to transfer from machine to machine and therefore the macros using them are totally boned if you export them and try and import them on a different machine--even if you recreate the clipboards on the other machine again first. So you have to manually relink each macro back to the clipboard it uses (they all say "Unknown" after import). -
"Keyboard Maestro makes all apps better"
Version: Keyboard Maestro 2.0.3

Having recently purchased a new 1.67 Mhz Powerbook running OSX 10.4.2 I downloaded the latest version of Keyboard Maestro. While there are a lot of improvements in the Tiger operating system and the new 15" PB is a speedy guy, I wanted KM to add the keyboard shortcuts Apple and other apps do not supply.
I figured the transition would take several weeks, but with all the advantages of Tiger and KM I was at speed in 2 days. The KM interface remains slick - I had all my old hot keys set up in 30 minutes and moved right into the new apps.
The ability to move & click the mouse plus the menu keys option proved invaluable. I'm using Nisis Writer Express and wanted to use the Services/Look Up in Dictionary (Apple's New Oxford American!) to check words within a document. KM's menu keys option provided the perfect flawless solution that makes NWE even better.
The feature to paste text into Terminal with a Unix return makes signing in to other machines a breeze. My fav, using move & click the mouse to connect/disconnect Internet Connect (yes modems remain important to many of us).
Overall, this is a wonderful app that makes other apps even better. If you like to keep your fingers on the keyboard, the solution is Keyboard Maestro. -r
