Version: KeePass Password Safe Professional 2.20.1
Pros

"Excellent!!!"
Version: KeePass Password Safe Professional 2.20
Pros
Auto-login is very fast! Hold ALL your passwords. Can set each password to be updated as needed.
Cons
Details have to be entered by hand, didn't see any way to import from my former password manager, Sticky.
Summary
Takes a bit of getting used to if you are a Roboform, Dashlane, Sticky user, but it is unlimited and can generate passwords for you. Setup doesn't ask you a lot of nosey, personal questions. Download was 6 mb, memory usage around 15 mb.

"A great one for years."
Version: KeePass Password Safe Professional 2.19
Pros
I can't remember when I started using this, but it's been quite a few years now and there's been absolutely no problem with it ever. I can't do anything but recommend this program to everybody.
Cons
Nothing that I can think of for years now.
Summary
I'll keep using it. You should too!

"Great way to have my password list anywhere"
Version: KeePass Password Safe Professional 2.19
Pros
Available on so many different platforms, I can have the list with me wherever I am.
Cons
Takes some work to keep the database synced between some devices. Not for beginners or people uncomfortable navigating the file system of their Android or Blackberry devices.
-
"Excellent password keeper"
Version: KeePass Password Safe Professional 2.18
Pros
Light, portable. Easy to organize (folders). Super easy to use. Nice options like reminder to renew passwords. Since almost every 2nd webpage asks you to login (pfffff) I even use the password generator to create user names (like for cnet)! Easy to sync with backup file on usb key or other disk.
Cons
Sometimes auto type doesn't work (puts wrong password).
As far as security, I have to trust other people. I cannot check myself how secure this program is. I trust the number of downloads and positive reviews from 'many different' people.
Imagine this: the programmer makes an excellent program, many people use it for years. Then with everybody lulled into believing this program is safe, he makes one update where installs a hidden 'send pwd to me' function and receives all passwords including the url's etc. By the time this is found out he is rich and lives in Argentina :-)Summary
Make your life on internet easy. Remember just 1 password and have a backup of this password and of the password file, just in case. Sign up anywhere with different credentials and let the program keep track. Store online and have access to your passwords from anywhere.

"Very reliable and secure"
Version: KeePass Password Safe Professional 2.18
Pros
Really like the user friendly features and the stand alone characteristic. It can generate the password or store for you. Works every time with a master key or you can import the key file.
Cons
none so far.
Summary
Highly recommended for people who don't want to remember a bunch of passwords or don't want to create generic passwords for all the applications.

"Very Good: Like it a lot; my new password word manager."
Version: KeePass Password Safe Professional 2.18
Pros
What I like most is the Auto Type feature as I have multiple user IDs and passwords. Plus I now keep useful information in the NOTES section so I have everything (including phone numbers, serial numbers, etc.) in one place. And it is free! However, I still use my browsers favorites more often than the Open URL feature for frequently used web sites. But a technologically savvy friend loves RoboForm so you might want to check it out also.
Cons
It takes several mouse clicks to get to the URL and have KeePass "automatically" enter the ID and PW. But who can predict how long it will take a web page to come up and be ready for data entry? Also, I found that the shortcuts of Ctrl+V and Ctrl+U do not always work on my Windows XP-SP3 PC. So KeePass still has a few "rough edges" and is not perfect in my opinion.
Also, now that all of that sensitive information is on your computer, one needs to protect it. Keep a copy of the file off site as well as on a thumb drive.Summary
I recommend KeePass 2 (or some other password manager). I found it fast and easy to implement. Read the instructions and it is easy. KeePass forced me to get organized. I also changed some of my passwords to be more secure. And I finally added a Windows User sign-on password as an extra measure of protection.
Make sure your select the desired KeePass entry before using the shortcut keys (Ctrl+U and Ctrl+V).
I suggest that you make your KeePass Master Password extremely secure as it is now the only one you need to remember. Mine is over a dozen characters in length and it contain both upper case and lower case alpha plus numeric and special characters.
And again, back-up (also off site) ... especially the *.kdbx file.

Also, you may find the article "Hack Proof Your Passwords" of interest and useful. It appears on pages 19-21 in the January 2012 issue of CONSUMERS REPORT magazine.
Updated on Apr 20, 2012When use Autotype (a great feature in my opinion) make sure that (1) the web page is loaded and (2) that the cursor is in the correct location (i.e., User Logon ID field).
