"Does what it claims, no muss and no fuss."

    November 2, 2008  |

    Version: K9 Web Protection 3.2.36

    Pros

The interface is extremely user friendly and you don't have to make any changes at all to effectively block porno sites (which is the only feature that I was interested in.) Top-notch freeware!

    Cons

Having to connect to the Internet to set everything up was a minor "con." Not a big deal though...

    "DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    October 29, 2008  |   By omoademola

    Version: K9 Web Protection 3.2.36

    Pros

    NONE. ITS A CON!

    Cons

Once installed you are in trouble!

    Summary

You are asked for a number sent to your e-mail. Then the system does not recognise the very nos sent by them! It stops functioning completely. It will NOT un-install. except you use the Device manager to close the screen asking for their password. Despite using my Registry scanner, I had to manually scan it. The problem does not stop there. It uses a vicious root folder hijacker to seize control of ALL the browsers on the system. Which will then, only open to their default webpage and, NOWHERE else. You will have to root un-install ALL browsers. For some reason my Firefox will not run EVEN after re-installment. THIS IS A VICIOUS BROWSER HIJACK PROGRAMME. DO NOT INSTALL!!!!!

"Excellent filter, with one small exception"

    October 27, 2008  |   By nordlav

    Version: K9 Web Protection 3.2.36

    Pros

Easy to use, free, very good features and options. Extremely effective, extremely difficult to bypass. Easy on system resources.

    Cons

Has difficulty blocking streaming TV images.

    Summary

The best filtering software I have used. I had used a paid filtering service from my ISP provider and it was a joke. Bloated, ineffective, easy to hack and you had to pay for it!
For a free product K9 is the best, the only problem I have had is some inappropriate images are not filtered when accessing some streaming TV channels. Even with this small deficiency it's hard not to rate it 5 stars due to it's overall advantages.

"Does exactly what it's made to do."

    October 10, 2008  |   By StephanieAnn04

    Version: K9 Web Protection 3.2.36

    Pros

Great user friendly interface and easy usability. Doesn't cling to your computer when uninstalled correctly via password entry. Makes monitoring web traffic on your computers extremely simple!

    Cons

Easily detectable and hacked by advanced users.

    Summary

The program is a great web monitoring utility that I have placed on 3 of our home computers for my sons protection. However, when my husband sees that I've installed it, he attempts to uninstall it because he feels that it's invading his privacy. I could care less what my husbands' web traffic consists of for the most part, I would just like to be able to monitor my sons traffic without making my husband feel uncomfortable. The program would benefit greatly in our case with the implementation of a more "stealthy" overhaul. Aside from this, this has been my favorite adult web site blocker and I will continue to use it. Also, unlike some monitoring software, this program will not attach itself onto your computer like a virus. It fully uninstalls when requested with the usage of the password you specified. Overall great program!

    October 9, 2008  |   By whitedragon308

    Version: K9 Web Protection 3.2.36

    Pros

I didn't get to use it, so i don't know.

    Cons

It made my internet not work, kept firefox open but not usable, so i couldn't do anything else. Ended up not being ablt to use it, and had to uninstall it. It also would freeze my computer.
