"Good Tool!"
Version: JollysFastVNC 1.10
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Ah, alt key works again in emacs & ksh.
This is one of my primary tools for remote work. I'd use the built in vnc, except that it doesn't work on localhost ssh tunnels. This tool works well for me, even over high latency international connections. Thanks a bunch, Jolly! -
"As it says, FAST !! Best VNC client I have used"
Version: JollysFastVNC 1.02
Pros
Simple interface to use. FAST. Very responsive developer. Bugs have been fixed very quickly.
Cons
Documentation could be more extensive.

The title says it all. Reliable, easy to use. The way good apps should be.
Well done to the developer(s).

"Great and free"
Version: JollysFastVNC 0.98.24
Pros
Works extremely well for connecting to computer on the local network using VPN or Bonjour. Window sizing and most keyboard syncing is great
Cons
Can't use function keys such as F9 to separate windows on remote machines
I haven't tried it for computers that are not on a local machine so I cannot comment on that.
The download on C-Net doesn't work, had to get it somewhere elseSummary
A very good product especially considering that it is free

"Much improved..."
Version: JollysFastVNC 0.96.86
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
When I first discovered this, it was great then builds for last fall through the end of the year were very troublesome. Lots of crashing, memory leaks, and sluggishness, but this most recent version seems to be back in the game. For Mac-to-Mac sharing, Apple's Screen Sharing can't be beat for speed and ease of use (though I need to do the usual hacks to it to get the bonjour browser and other features) but this is again my favorite third party VNC viewer. I especially appreciate the new authentication choices. If you gave up on this, give it another try. -
"Great app, but needs to handle right mouse button"
Version: JollysFastVNC 0.96.82
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The only complaint I have is that I wish the right mouse button would send the correct modifier key to the remote machine.
Otherwise, this is a great app, and I strongly recommend it. -

"Essential Program"
Version: JollysFastVNC 0.96.42 build 1898
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I can't comment on versions in other languages, but I have to say I regard this program as absolutely essential for managing my computers effectively with one keyboard. I have two computers and three screens, and often a MacPro is running in one window, the Mac Mini in another, and WinXP in another via Parallels - and using this program, the three work seamlessly from the one keyboard. It is fast, problems encountered with updates are looked into (and solved!) by the developer very quickly, and has given me very little problem over the years.
And it's free! It's a GREAT program in my opinion. -
"Best 3rd party Mac VNC client, with flaws"
Version: JollysFastVNC 0.96.40
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm a long time VNC user with experience using a variety of VNC clients. Chicken of the VNC has been my client of choice but as time wore on and technologies have changed, it has become long in the tooth and I was again looking for a replacement (enter JollysFastVNC).
Finally, with JollysFastVNC we had a smart, manageable server list and a client that promised full implementation of a plethora of valuable features. And we have an active developer to boot! (CotVNC has been stuck at version 2.0b4 for years)
So, my short list of complaints / things to improve:
1) Shortcuts such as Command-W and Command-F MUST be sent to the VNC server. I can't tell you how many times I've been working on the remote computer and attempted to close a remote window only to terminate my VNC session. I would STRONGLY advocate attaching an additional modifier key to any JollysFastVNC function (i.e. Command-Option-W to close).
2) Increase the visibility of the Connect process. If a particular VNC server does not work for some reason, what happens is I hit the Connect button and a series of text strings flashes by in an instant just to the left of the button. It is almost too fast to notice, and I'm left wondering if the program is still working on the connection. A dialog box telling me why the connection failed would be very handy.
I've been playing with Leopard's built-in "Screen Sharing" app (hidden in Macintosh HD > System > Library > CoreServices) and it is very good, if you take a trip to the terminal first. Here's a great article that shows you how to do it:
http://www.macworld.com/article/131094/2007/12/screensharepower.html
To the JollysFastVNC developer: Take some design cues from Screen Sharing and you will improve your product. The image quality slider at the top is dead-simple to use, and much easier to understand than a list of cryptic VNC encoding standards or a relatively vague Color Depth popup menu.
In the end, I am planning on using JollysFastVNC as my main VNC client for now until Apple improves the Screen Sharing app (there are some serious flaws in it; not ready for prime time yet). Thanks for developing this program â?? you are right when you say the Mac VNC client market needed it! -
"CONGRATULATIONS!!! Non-US keyboards are handled..."
Version: JollysFastVNC 0.96.30
Summary
...correctly!!
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm so happy I at last found an application that handles non-US keyboards correctly. I connected to my daughters machine and was able to keyboard text using French keyboard and even using my home-made polytonic Greek keyboard. It worked seamlessly. Previously I was using Chicken of the VNC and when I typed an A on my French AZERTY keyboard a Q came out on the distant machine, even although I had French keyboards activated on both machines. Thank you so much!!!
Chers amis francophones vos problèmes sont terminés. Désormais vous pouvez utiliser JollysFastVNC et saisir vos textes sans problème sur la machine distante. Une merveille !
