"It works well with one minor issue"
Version: Join VOB Files Tool 1
Pros
Joins vob files and you don't see where the join took place which is a problem I have when joining avi files
Cons
The minor issue is if you type in the location of the path where you want the output file, the file ends up in the C: root directory. If you click the icon to change this folder, then it works like it is supposed to.
Summary
It works well on Windows XP. I'm happy with it.

"Good, but NOT so GREAT"
Version: Join VOB Files Tool 1
Pros
Can join VOB files 2gether without skips or being able to tell where the edit happens.
Cons
Will NOT let you choose a location of where to put the file. It automatically chooses drive C. Thats why people are having their file deleted after the joining takes place. It will work until it runs out of drive space.
Summary
Only good for small files unless you have lots of space on drive C. You cannot change the location of where the file is to be placed. No matter where you tell it to put the end result. I have tried with two separate OS W2K Pro and xp Pro. Same results. Will Join the first 2 out of 3. When it starts to join the 3rd file, Drive C does not have enough room and it deletes the entire file. Bummer. If there was a way to choose the drive where you want the file, it would be great. You CANNOT choose a different location as it implies. My system is duel boot, with XP being on Drive H. When it joins the files together, they automatically go into ROOT, DRIVE C. No use for me because I like to keep only OS on Drive C and am not willing to increase the size of that partition.

"Disappointed"
Version: Join VOB Files Tool 1
Pros
it looks like it will burn a single vob file from the myriad of vob files on a dvd disc
Cons
it was horribly slow compiling a single vob file - made worse by the fact that the 'multiple selection' of files didn't work
Summary
The online help said multiple selection would work. The thought of adding files one at a time and taking a while to do it - not for me. I don't care if it took all night but one file at a time was the killer

"sorry could not work this one out"
Version: Join VOB Files Tool 1
Pros
not a lot sorry
Cons
it appaired to join the files but on completion the joined file had been deleted ?
Summary
I played with this one for a while, changed the output setting. when i view the output file it was there but on completion the file just dissapears ?
not sure what to make of this one, wether its a joke or something but by oher comments it worked ok for them . -

"i liked it and i'm picky"
Version: Join VOB Files Tool 1
Pros
it's free, it works, i can't see any loss of quality in video, it's straight forward, and it's fast. what more do you want?
Cons
it doesn't let you pick your output format for the file (i.e. .avi, mpg., etc.). as far as i know, it only outputs in .vob file extension format, which is kinda a downer because you probably won't get a thumbnail generated for the file.
Summary
i like this thing because it's FREE, and it doesn't suck. in fact, it works better than my paid one: boilsoft video joiner (it won't even join the files).

"joins (.vob)'s flawlessly"
Version: Join VOB Files Tool 1
Pros
It joins vob files without anything in between. It is not too slow. And it selects the default audio track, getting around the annoyance of a commentary track.
Cons
It does not let you select which audio track to use in the product. Though it picked a non-commentary track, it was the stereo one instead of the 5.1 track.
Summary
This does a simple job without any errors. The other option is to use a program like Format Factory (pcfreetime.com) to convert the vob chunks into another format, like wmv, and then join those chunks, selecting the audio track that you want.

"Does the job"
Version: Join VOB Files Tool 1
Pros
Simple to use and fast. Add the files and off you go.
Cons
Mixes up file order and doesn't allow shifting of files. No drag and drop. You can't just change the file name in the program you have to actually select "Choose" and type the new file name in the save dialog or it will write over the previous file
Summary
Great program, does the job. No frills, the cons are really a wish-list as it doesn't stop the program from doing what it says it will and doing it fast and well.
