During installation, you have to be careful if you don't want to set JetAudio Basic as the default application for audio and video files. However, the freeware application gives you plenty of reasons to make it your only player.
The interface has a modern design that looks like an equalizer. You can customize each section of the program, from CD ripping to format conversion, to your heart's content. The program can convert files among some a number of formats, as well as read and edit MP3 tags. The built-in Cross-fader, Reverb, and Wide-sound modes provide a nice touch not found in most MP3 players. The program becomes truly unique with its clock, however, which features a timer and an alarm. We also appreciate the inclusion of a tool for seeking out song lyrics.
Our only quibble is it treats a playlist as an album but uses the artist as its primary key field, making it difficult to locate mixes. JetAudio Basic's appealing product set should attract audiophiles.

Practical to use and quite versatile especially as it works perfectly with Windows XP x64 bit version that I am using. I was indeed disappointed that the Real Player does is not compatible nor works with Windows XP x64 bit version

After i tried JetAudio Basic version, i decided to buy online the Plus version for 14(!) euros. IMAZING! The plus version has such a great sound settings(surround, x-bass,and more...), first it blowed my ears. Beautiful sound and CLEAR with it. Nice interface also with a lot of functions, clock, easily managable settings. When i first opened the program after installation i knew what and how i have to do to manage my musiccollection what is the most important to me(i have 700 hours and grows...). And i'm so greatfull for this sound, it is now my only player i use for the collection. 5 stars! No doubt about.

Great file support, simple interface, a small footprint, wonderful playback, a great equalizer, LOTS of features and advanced settings, broadcasting, burning CD's is good, plenty of hotkeys to easily FF REW and change volume, STABLE
Cons
Auto updates by default (easy change in settings), playlists can be daunting, get a lot of buffer overrun on slower machines. Doesn't support everything but more than enough, navigation through a few (but not all) DVDs is poor but playback is good.
Summary
None of the con's are killers for me, if you are the type to have 1 million+ playlists then I would look elsewhere as it would take you forever. Audio playback is great while playing games. I think this has crashed on me a maximum of 3 or 4 times with very frequent use. 1 being a funny setting when playing back 3gp video, you have to tell it whether you want it to look for subtitles or not. That is only on 3gp video and if you navigate away it becomes unresponsive. Others being during FF/RW on some burned DVD's. I have used Jetaudio for many years now and always find it to be the absolute best when it comes to free players.

"Burns mp3 to CD just fine. Why connect to the internet?"

I got it to burn some mp3s to a CD. I use Windows Vista, and it worked just fine, that CD playing on any CD player.
Cons
Why does it try to connect to the internet? After I burned a CD, Zonealarm caught it trying to sneak online.

I can easily block it from accessing the internet, so no real problems. And its free, and does what I wanted it for.
