During installation, you have to be careful if you don't want to set JetAudio Basic as the default application for audio and video files. However, the freeware gives you plenty of reasons to make it your only player. The interface has a modern design that looks like an equalizer. You can customize each section of the program, from the CD ripping to the format conversion, to your heart's content. The program can convert files among some 10 formats, as well as read and edit MP3 tags. The built-in Cross-fader, Reverb, and Wide-sound modes provide a nice touch not found in most MP3 players. The program becomes truly unique with its clock, however, which features a timer and an alarm. We also appreciate the inclusion of a tool for seeking out song lyrics. Our only quibble is that it treats a playlist as an album but uses the artist as its primary key field, making it difficult to locate mixes. JetAudio Basic's appealing product set should attract audiophiles. Watch the CNET video review of JetAudio Basic:

You can create your own Internet broadcast by using JetCast, provided with JetAudio, and you can play all major file formats, including WAV, MP3, MP3Pro, OGG, WMA, MPEG, AVI, WMV, MIDI, RM, and video and audio CD tracks. Convert among audio file formats, and record analog audio to various formats. The program features visualization plug-ins, including Sound2Vision; tag editing for MP3, OGG, and WMA files; sound effects including wide, reverb, and x-bass; multichannel sound output; speed control of audio playback; cross-fading for a smooth transition between two songs; a skinnable user interface; and synchronized lyrics display (karaoke) for MIDI and MP3 files.
Version 6.0.6 fixes bugs in the subtitle display and in Audio Trimmer.

"Try it and discover it plays and converts all files"
Pros: This does almost everything that user mbd2884 said. Read his review and I would definitely recommend going pro and get all the options available. It is just one payment. JetAudio or Cowon the creator, allows user to upgrade from previous plus version to the next. They allowed it from JetAudio 4 to 5, from 5 to 6. Try the basic and you'll love it, go to the plus version, and you won't use anything else

"From an experienced 3 year user, incredible!"
Pros: I?ve used this for about three years, since JetAudio 4. This player adapts to everything. Haven't found file it doesn't play, ogg, flac, ape, acc, mp3, mp3 pro real. Also allows you to rip a cd or convert to all the formats and at high compression rate and *variable bit rate* for almost all. Real, winamp, vlc player, jukebox, sonique, bs player, foobar or anything else I looked into doesn't support 32 bit sound, those who have pro can agree that the sound is unbelievable. Has customizable quick keys (19 different quick keys), easily navigate both audio and music files. When doing homework, using Word, I don't need to find the player to change song, skip ahead or change volume, just use quick keys, no change of flow or interruption from my work. Dock the playlist to the bottom of the screen, automatically disappears, move mouse over, it appears, choose your album, file and has navigation/volume keys. For video files, move mouse to the bottom, player appears, choose the subtitle, size and style in pull down menus. If available can choose audio stream (dubbing), (like mkv or ogm files). Change filter or codec setting. Right click on the screen, on the bottom see filter settings. Can dramatically hear or see changes (ac3, divx, matrix mixing settings and more). Burn CDs. Play DVDs. This has 32 bit sound, at least 5.1 surround sound! Also BBE. Pro option is definitely worth it. Also has lyric viewer, can see lyrics for your cd or mp3 song if supported. I have two sound cards, internal and external, in the mixer menu, can change soundcards instantly.
Also, almost everyone except Ernie knows WMA ****************** compared to mp3pro, mp3, ogg, flac, acc, mp4, you name it. It is a fact, not an opinion, look at the studies and comparisons, there are tons and every single one says that WMA is awful, unless you like degraded sound or low kbs. Personally I listen to nothing less than 128, but I listen to 192 vbr in either mp3 or ogg (converted or ripped in JetAudio)
Cons: Skin selection limited (Cowon, creator doesn't promote their player as much as winamp, sonique or others, they're korean and not known, so not that many users)
Playlist customization lacking, but this should not be the deciding factor.

Pros: Being able to play different file formats without changing players, also has good ripping and converting ability.

"Missing the one function that I need"
Cons: I downloaded this specifically because it said it handled RM format. It doesn't....not all the way. It will convert TO RM but not FROM RM to something else. As usual, Real Player is fouling up the works. I'm sure the JetAudio team would have implemented that function if Real Player weren't being jerks about it, but the description needs to be more specific about what it WON'T do.
The download wasn't a total waste as I've used this program in the past and will use it again, but for now, I'll have to hunt down another converter that actually does what this one claims to.
