Editors' Review
As its name implies, Jellies - Safe Kids Videos for iOS is a YouTube-like service for safe-to-watch kid-friendly videos.
Pros
Easy to set up: To set up an account, tap the Settings button on the top right, and then prove you're a parent to enter Parents Mode by answering a question, such as "What's 8x7." Then you'll be taken through the steps to subscribe to a Premium account, which you'll need to make any real use of this app.
Easy to navigate: You can search videos on the default Featured page, where popular videos sit up top. Underneath there's a Just Added section and below that sections for Ages 2 and up, Ages 4 and up, Ages 6 and up, and Ages 8 and up. Or tap the Browse tab to search videos by category, in alphabetical order, starting with ABC's and ending with Wolves. Tap a category to begin placing videos in a playlist that is suitable for your child or children to watch in Kids Mode.
Targeted content: We love that Jellies splits up content by categories, such as Airplanes, Drawing, Numbers, and Thunderstorms, or by age, so you can find appropriate content for your kids more efficiently.
Safe content: When your child is viewing content in Kids Mode, they can't add any additional content that you haven't already approved in Parents Mode.
Ad-free: There are no ads on Jellies, which means that your kids won't ever come across any ads for adult products -- or any ads whatsoever, for that matter.
Cons
Premium account required: To unlock Kids Mode, so your children can begin watching videos, you'll need to purchase a Premium account. You can try it for free for 30 days, but then it's $4.99 per month.
Bottom Line
If you're looking to control what your kid or kids are watching online, then Jellies is for you. For $4.99 a month, you can create a safe video playlist for them and rest assured that they're only watching pre-approved content.
