Publisher's description
From Sun Microsystems :The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) provides the libraries, the Java Virtual Machine, and other components to run applets and applications written in the Java programming language. In addition, two key deployment technologies are part of the JRE: Java Plug-in, which enables applets to run in popular browsers; and Java Web Start, which deploys standalone applications over a network. This is the official Java Download from Sun Microsystems. Version 6 Update 4 includes unspecified updates.

Version: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 4
Pros: Plug-In, runs certain objects and programs.
Cons: This plugin is not only annoying, but big for a browser plugin and annoying. It is oversized, and thankfully, not many sites require this plugin to work otherwise I probably won't even go online. Java is about 100MB or more in size, hangs in the background causing system instability, constantly running whether you like it or not, and is just plain annoying. Yes it could be useful for running some games and some tools or objects, but I rather stay away from this. I wish OpenOffice and LimeWire didn't require Java to run. I don't use neither programs BECAUSE it requires Java.

"java is a hand full of idiots screwing with you"
Pros: nothing not one thing is good
Cons: it sends to this stupid site that sends you back and forth within that site just so you can find out that there is no way to download it.

Version: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 4
"The download link seems to be broken"
Pros: This version of Java appears to be invalid or incomplete. It downloads a small file but then nothing installs. I visited java.com and this version is not even listed on their site.
