Pros
This version seems to run faster then the other versions released by Sun Microsystems, also if you plan to use any Java oriented content (which is 75% of webpages/games/tools/programs etc.) then you need this program or a similair program. Why choose another program? This ones free.
Cons
This program has a few minor flaws...such as it is a large download for those of you with dail-up....it has problems running on slower computers for those of you who have had a computer freeze or lock up on them. This is a great program to have... and remember that the best things in life are free... Silver Wind

it will run my apps' great & also my wife's games. was easy to install.
Cons
when done playing online games; i have to use task manager to close out program. can't seem to find answer to this annoying problem. any help would be appreciated.

If you surf sites that use java this is the JRE you need. I feel compelled to reply to some of the negative reviews left here. hitted off has obviously been using programs that are infected with viri. Sun's proggies are clean ;) Dogedly Slow? Java is an interpreted language. Once the JRE is loaded, execution times rival those of C especially for network apps coded in JAVA. Installed on PC but can't run it?
It's not a stand-alone program, it's a RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT. Try surfing a free java applet site. Can you view the applets? If not, open up your browser's option panel and ENABLE JAVA. Sun is the defacto standard for JAVA development, and their products are above par.
