"Good for note reading practice"
Version: Jalmus 1
I like the number of options available - highly cutomizable, depending on your level. There's also a great video available on the developer's site to get you started. It's fairly intuitive; once you see the video, you can pretty much navigate without any difficulty.
The rythm section is a little bizarre - even in the video on the developer's website, it appears he is having trouble getting in sync at the beginning and maintaining it throughout. Also, the mouse input is not exactly helpful in true sight-reading practice. Actual keyboard input is really the goal of sight-reading - to see how well you can play through without stopping - mistakes and all.
This tool is a good way to get a handle on note reading, but it really lacks an adequate MIDI interface to get the full potential out of what sight-reading is all about.
