"Program really does what it's meant to do"
Version: IrfanView 4
Pros
There is virtually every option one could ask for in a "simple" image viewer/"editor". I've been using it since verion 2.0 and have found each new version improvement useful and each version stable (have NEVER had stability issues). It's the simplicity in doing the common viewing tasks with a great deal of customization options if one so desires that makes this a great program.
Cons
Would like to have a user definable pause ("dwell time") on the last image in a slide show to allow distinction between end and (re)start of loop--a necessity when viewing "time-lapse" animations where one wants to loop continually for analysis purposes (meteorological apps for me personally), but need to know when the slideshow is starting again (very confusing otherwise).
Red-eye reduction could use some improvement.
These are, however, minor issues when compared to the wealth of capabilities.

"Got pictures? LOTS of Pictures?? You MUST own this!! It's a Swiss Army Knife."
Version: IrfanView 4
Pros
I've used this powerful, yet simple, program since version 1.0 and have recommended it to, or installed it for, over 100 others.
It allows quick access to your pics without having to load some slow, memory hogging app like Photoshop, Picture It!, etc.
It's great for flipping through thousands of pics, deleting, renaming, moving folders, converting between file types (even strange ones!).
It's NOT an Editor, but a fabulous Swiss Army knife utility.
Has slideshows and batch processing to handle multiple changes. It's great if you need to rename dozens of files from "DCIM_2748" to "Key West Jan07" (LOL!) or if you need to convert a hundred images from 8 megapixel RAW or TIFF monsters to small jpg's for the Web, even has LOSSLESS JPG ROTATION!
Truly a product that should sell for $49 - $99. Pay the man, he's done this for YEARS and has a stellar product.
SIX Stars!
Cons
Nothing really, the key to using it is learning the keyboard shortcuts (see help file) and taking time to tune the settings (Options --> Properties)

"You need this"
Version: IrfanView 4
Pros
I use it every day. Tons of great features with very little bloat. Loads instantly, tiny footprint. Great for simple edits like color correct, crop, resize, sharpen, etc. Batch processing & scanning is a great timesaver. Really nothing not to love.
Cons
Interface could be a little better. More editing features like a paintbrush would be nice, but good to keep it simple.

"I love this reliable program!"
Version: IrfanView 4
Pros
I don't think there is an image it has failed to open. At times it is the only program that has been able to play certain video files. I wouldn't have used this product for as many YEARS as I have if there were any cons to be concerned about. If you find flaws with it you are just being picky.
Cons
I don't like the desktop icons. LOL (just call me picky!)

"THe most powerful, but straightforward image viewer"
Version: IrfanView 4
Pros
Ability to cycle through a folder of media(pictures, videos, sounds) with ease of a click or arrow button! Slideshow creation feature has created a few 30minute presentations for my school, and the feature set of resizing, effects, and croping to tie it together. Love the printing interface, and the wide file type support.. Great Job! Keep It Up!
Been using this program since version 2, on my old win98 machine >> 7 << years ago!
Cons
The ability to resize pictures using a DPI lock... (eg: increasing the DPI auto scales the image...) but resizing pictures by pixels/size works great :D
