"My go-to program for pics I take or grab off the 'net"
Version: IrfanView 4.35
Pros
Easy keyboard shortcuts, great plug-ins (eg. create .pdf from multiple images, F12:add arrows, boxes, paint, erase, and more), fast, enables me to add arrows and text, auto-rotate to straighten pics to horizontal, easy crop, easy enlarge canvas size to paste additional pics into current pic and/or text for instructional use or collage, great compensations for dark pics and overexposed pics, easy batch treatments for size reductions (either file size via variable compression or pic size in inches) and more, easy to control print size in inches, and many more useful features.
Cons
only 1 level of undo
Summary
I have used Irfanview for years and it is my go-to for getting pics ready to show.. whether vacation or everyday pics, procedure instructions, or before & after views in one pic. It amazes me how much it can do and I'm sure I'm only scratching its surface. I do not use this for some things and another program for other things, as Irfanview does everything I need with the pictures I take (or grab off the 'net).

"Great Program for resizing pictures and more Awesome"
Version: IrfanView 4.35
Pros
This is a great program for resizing pictures. When I put pictures on my PC from my digital camera they are way to big, most of the time a little over 1 mb.Way to big to send people and takes up a lot of space. With IrfanView I resize the pictures to jpeg and to cover most of the screen and it is only around 20 to 80 KB in size.I have used it for a long time for Ebay pictures.
Cons
No cons for me
Summary
If you want a great program for resizing pictures this is it.I also convert mine as jpeg.Great for Ebay pictures.Saves a lot of space.I wish more people would use it.I hate when somebody sends me a picture that has not been resized and would cover 5 monitor screens.Way to big.I got to play with it a little the other night and found out I could add Text in my pictures with my choice of colors.Anyway I would recommend this to anyone. Thanks IrfanView

"Replaces windows default image viewer."
Version: IrfanView 4.35
Pros
Fast, stable, free.
Cons
Prompts to install toolbar.
Summary
The built-in windows image viewer is very slow by comparison. I'm not thrilled that it solicits permission to install adware, but at least it's presented as an option and not forced upon the user.

"Worked for my Purposes."
Version: IrfanView 4.35
Pros
Full-featured, handles certain file types that my Photoshop Elements doesn't handle.
Cons
None yet. Doesn't handle .jp2 files natively, but the plugin is easy to acquire and install. (Minor)
Summary
I just needed something to open JPEG 2000 files (.jp2). I also needed to get and install the proper plugin, and then it worked like a charm.
