Editors' review

Though primarily designed to record streaming Internet radio, this feature-packed program boasts a number of other tools that will appeal to music fans. The well-designed, logically arranged interface lists all your options in the left pane. Internet Radio Recorder provides a large number of streaming audio stations in a variety of genres from hip-hop to classical, but you can use the built-in search tool to find even more. You will of course get a utility for scheduling recordings, and you'll also get a separate tool for capturing audio from a CD player, a microphone, or a line-in jack. Even if this application were limited to recording, we'd still be quite delighted, but its bonus features really make it shine. Internet Radio Recorder provides a conversion utility that can transform files among popular formats such as WAV, OGG, MP3, and WMA. The program also supplies a CD burner, a basic audio editor, and a polished media player that looks just like an old-school radio console. You even get a tool for designing your own CD labels and cases. This program definitely will please Internet radio fans, but everyone else is just as likely to be impressed.

"Belongs on the dump it list"

    November 04, 2008   |   By onezavalar

    Version: Internet Radio Recorder 1.0

    Pros

    only the audio capture

    Cons

Save yourself your hard earn money, and a big headache, is a piece of junk

    Summary

I can't believe this company Fogware still selling this piece of crap and at a higher price, I wish there would be laws against this kind product or enforce the law against such pile of garbage at this point it should be free IF... there is anything worth about it.
I use winamp or itunes to listen exactly the same stations with no drop outs at all.

    "Crash Central"

    October 23, 2008   |   By remy_julien

    Version: Internet Radio Recorder 1.0

    Pros

    Nice interface.

    Cons

Crashes repeatedly with Live365 streaming radio.

    Summary

Tried to record a stream form Live365 radio three times. Software crashed three times. I'll take functionality over a pretty interface. Maybe something else will work better than this turkey.

"Audio capture won't work with Realtec sound card"

    December 23, 2007   |   By bettybearcub

    Version: Internet Radio Recorder 1.0

    Pros

It worked great on my former computer, when I switched to a new computer audio capture wouldn't work. IRR help was non-existent

    Cons

No help available if you have problems. Their tech people, via email only, said my problem didn't make sense to them. They stopped answering my email when I wrote back to them. Dell tech support helped me figure out it was the software and the Realtec sound card incompatibility.

    "Frustrated."

    April 06, 2007   |   By HappyFeetRev2

    Version: Internet Radio Recorder 1.0

    Pros

Seems like this product has a lot of potential with a potential ability:

** to possibly record from a number of preselected stations. Even one of my "fringe favorites" was on their list

** to possibly record from anyone of your other favorite stations (or any sound that goes through your sound card)

** to possibly edit your recordings

** to possibly record, label, and split your songs as they are streamed into your system

    Cons

With all that potential (for just what I want) I have some reservations:

** After quite a bit of not so intuitive work, I actually got the thing to record a song.

** The song had about 5-10 sec of another song spliced onto the front of it (booha).

** The recorder apparently thinks a new song starts when the URL updates the "currently playing" song title (which can be several seconds after the fact to "just played" several minutes ago).

** The main piece of the song was correctly and automatically labeled (yeah!).

** The recorder seemed to capture a beautiful, long sought after song I really wanted. Then miraculously, it disappeared off my hard drive as a was looking at it and another song downloaded behind it (?!@#$%!!)

** That magical song recording and song deletion property happened on all the songs except the one I actually recorded (blech).

** In fact, the recorder itself would disappear (but keep playing, "recording" and deleting) for no apparent reason (blah).

I don't think I will be paying for the non-trial version of this software package anytime soon, unless, of course, it miraculously starts working like it is supposed to. Too buggy.

    "junkware"

    April 05, 2007   |   By xoques

    Version: Internet Radio Recorder 1.0

    Pros

    it works

    Cons

if you do not use WinMediaPlayer this app is useless. it will not play well with other media players. then if you use a USB sound card you're SOL. it will interfere. it uses way too much system resources. do not download this piece of crap.

"Flawed but still gets the job done."

    January 27, 2007   |   By phxbl8

    Version: Internet Radio Recorder 1.0

    Pros

I like the database support and the update button and the built-in editor and the ability to record different streams to different destinations.

    Cons

It crashes a lot (at least daily). Too many of the stations in the database wont connect and Ive heard that people using WinAmp have better luck with the same stations. It needs a feature (that Station Ripper has) to skip tracks already recorded.
