"Slow, very slow"

The browser has some additional features but the problem with speed overshadows it.
Cons
Noticeably slow, when launching browser, it takes way too long to start loading the homepage, in my case my homepage is google, it took like 10 seconds to load it and I'm on a broadband connection. IE 7 loaded faster even.
Summary
Just installed it and not impressed. It?s noticeably slower when launching the browser than it?s predecessor, IE 7. It seems to take like 10 seconds to actually start to render the home page. This is google I was trying to load even. I did try turning off all accelerators and turning off some of the other additional features, no difference. I suppose if you aren?t going from Firefox as your primary browser to IE 8, you might not notice the slowdown. I surely do though.

with living in the counrty, i get my internet with a internet card, pluged into the usb. My speed is upto 3mbps. chrome was the fastest, firefox seems to be getting slower, ie8 seems to be the fastest for me,

Its seems ok, big improvements, quick to download and install. I have the new firefox, but it seems to be dragging, chrome was the fastest, but ie8 seems faster, will be doing the speed test though. Chrome is good, could be better for addons and that, but everyone knows that already. so far, happy with IE8 (for know)!!

Certainly worth upgrading from IE7, and firefox users who use IE8 may consider a swap.

much better then the beta versions,(not sure if this is final or a rc1}nice new features and add-ons such as web-slices and accelerators .great safety and security.

too SLOW!i tested it on all three of my PC'S and off of my laptop,all of them have over a 2 gig processor and at least 1 gig of ram and it was slow on all of them,i did notice it does take you to the website a lot faster then IE7 but page loads slow.
Summary
Mozilla still the Superior browser for speed and surfing and such,IE8 ok for a second browser to do your online banking and shopping cause it has great security.
IN some cases it can take anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds for a page to fully load.That is on a VERY fast broadband connection,so it is WAY to slow still.

Changes your links you setup in IE7 to a folder called "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder" all of these have to be moved to the folder called "Favorites Bar". Annoying. Why couldn't Microsoft have done this for you?
Can't add anything to the favorites bar with the "add to favorites bar" button. Broken. It can be done by adding the site to save to your favorites, then dragging to the favorites bar folder. Microsoft, couldn't we have fixed this one as well BEFORE launch?

It's still slower than Firefox. It's not as smooth as Firefox is on my Windows Vista Home premium and far more important it lacks add-ons as good and the ones found on firefox. I almost forgot... it's a memory hog when compared to firefox.
Cons
It's faster than older versions of IE but let's face it... IE only dominates the market becuase it comes along with Windows, otherwise Firefox would be the the leading browser.
Summary
MS has certainly made some good improviments on IE8 but Firefox is faster and has the whole ecosystem of add-ons on its side. Other browsers like Google Chrome and Opera are faster than IE8. But if you are a big fan of MS and its Web Browser you should definitaly download it. I'll keep it on my PC but Firefox is still my favourite.
