    "More of a Good Thing"

    March 21, 2009  |   By Barzillai

    Version: Internet Explorer 8

    Pros

Many of the functions I use most seem a little enhanced, easier to use, or more accessible. But still very similar to IE7.

    Cons

I would use a one-click way to open a new window rather than having to type Crtl-N or use the mouse and click File, New Window. (There?s no one-click way to open a new widow, right? ? if there is I could not find it.)

    Summary

After I read the CNet Review, I thought I would at least try Firefox and Chrome before downloading IE8.

Firefox made my Blogger blog look odd and would not properly display the poll Blogger poll I always use on my blog. Because Firefox would not properly display what I consider to be a plain Blogger blog, and because that was the first thing I looked at with Firefox, I decided that Firefox was not for me ? even though I know many people like it.

Chrome had that great Google look of clean simplicity, and a great way of showing Favorites. But Chrome could not (or at least I could not find a simple way for me to) resort my list of Favorites that were imported from IE. With IE I right click and then Sort by Name, which I do fairly often to move Favorites around on the toolbar. Chrome did not do the first thing I wanted ? resort the list of Favorites. Again, there may be a way to do it, but for me I like to be able to right click and then resort and I could not find that as I was able to find in IE.

So, despite how good Firefox and Chrome are for others, they both did not do the first thing I wanted to do ? have my blog poll look right and then resort my favorites.

With some amount of resignation to sticking with what many say is an inferior browser, I downloaded IE8.

IE8 looks and feels very much like IE7, and I will continue to enjoy its good balance of features and scope. I am glad I upgraded primarily to make sure I keep my computer up to date.

When I find a better all-round browser for me, I will switch in a second, but Microsoft has made the most widely-useful browser more user friendly and gave it a few new features.

    Updated on Mar 21, 2009

My Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A has Favorite Buttons that allow opening of a web page. These keys work fine in IE7, but stopped opening web pages after IE8 was installed. I called Microsoft Help and it appears that IE8 may not work to open web pages from this keyboard. Rather than fiddle with trying to locate the problem, if any, (rather than a simple gap in the functionality of IE8), I just uninstalled IE8 and will download IE8 again in a few months.

    Updated on Mar 24, 2009

Well, the rest of the story is that two days later I installed IE8 again and my shortcut keys on my Micosoft Wireless Comfort keyboard all worked OK. How about that. So, I am using IE8 and enjoying it very much. I like the history that is provided in the search box.

"Internet Explorer 8 is the fastest browser ever!"

    March 20, 2009  |   By ppgrainbow

    Version: Internet Explorer 8

    Pros

Internet Explorer 8 is faster, safer and easier to use than ever! Improved tabs and Accelerators are a big improvement!

    Cons

The interface is similar to IE7. Certain websites are incompatible with IE8, but they're fixed by compatibility view. Microsoft Java Virtual Machine may no longer work with IE8 on Windows XP (as a upgrade from older versions of Windows).

    Summary

Internet Explorer 8 is a big improvement from the previous version of its browser.

Internet Explorer 8 is the fastest browser on the internet over Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple's Safari combined. plus it runs a lot smoother than ever! Internet Explorer 8 is quick to download and easy enough to install on your computer! A lot of new features make navigation on the Internet Explorer 8 browser much easier than ever!

Internet Explorer 8 includes compatibility modes for certain websites that don't render webpages correctly under Internet Explorer 8. Plus, it also includes Web Slices where it takes snippets of the entire page that a user can subscribe to.

The new security features to Internet Explorer 8 are important to a lot of people if they want to protect themselves online.

It will take a while for millions of users to use Internet Explorer 8. In the long run, the latest browser hopes to regain the market share away from other browsers.

    Version: Internet Explorer 8

    Pros

It's better than Internet Explorer 5.0!

    Cons

Bloated, sluggish and continues to leak memory from common add-ons. The interface is still as stiff as all previous versions. It's IE7 with a lot of useless features.

"Great Internet Browser! Better than IE7!"

    March 20, 2009  |   By wiredchicken

    Version: Internet Explorer 8

    Pros

    Faster
    Tabs are more improved
    Runs Better
    Alot more secure

    Cons

None, except the the interface should be updated!

    Summary

This is the best internet explorer of all of them so far. They have intregated alot of new features, and it is running alot smoother. The address bar is alot more useful then the other one, its both a browers and now a search bar. Its almost like internet explorer 7 but its alot more feature rich. I do like the tab recovery, because if I were and the other features makes it more convenient to navigate through. Overall its a great browser to use and does alot better in terms of performance and functionality!

    Updated on Mar 20, 2009

I just wanted to mention that the tab is a little different, I think it may just be a lighter blue!

    Updated on Jun 3, 2009

I have always like internet explorer, and always will. Very reliable internet browser, and has rarely crashed, except for when my virus scan decides to run. In fact I have been using it since the windows 98!!!

    "Slow, very slow"

    March 20, 2009  |   By pentium4forever

    Version: Internet Explorer 8

    Pros

The browser has some additional features but the problem with speed overshadows it.

    Cons

Noticeably slow, when launching browser, it takes way too long to start loading the homepage, in my case my homepage is google, it took like 10 seconds to load it and I'm on a broadband connection. IE 7 loaded faster even.

    Summary

Just installed it and not impressed. It?s noticeably slower when launching the browser than it?s predecessor, IE 7. It seems to take like 10 seconds to actually start to render the home page. This is google I was trying to load even. I did try turning off all accelerators and turning off some of the other additional features, no difference. I suppose if you aren?t going from Firefox as your primary browser to IE 8, you might not notice the slowdown. I surely do though.

    Version: Internet Explorer 8

    Pros

with living in the counrty, i get my internet with a internet card, pluged into the usb. My speed is upto 3mbps. chrome was the fastest, firefox seems to be getting slower, ie8 seems to be the fastest for me,

    Cons

crashed a few times when i installed it,
    going back to IE

    Summary

Its seems ok, big improvements, quick to download and install. I have the new firefox, but it seems to be dragging, chrome was the fastest, but ie8 seems faster, will be doing the speed test though. Chrome is good, could be better for addons and that, but everyone knows that already. so far, happy with IE8 (for know)!!
