"Had to uninstall after 3 days due to frequent freezes."
Version: Intego VirusBarrier X6 10.6.15
Pros
I downloaded it to my iMac (OSX 10.6.8) for the 30 day free trial. Easy to install and set up.
Cons
I immediately noticed that my iMac ran slower. The next day it began locking up after being on for about an hour. It locked up so much that none of the shutdown & restart methods would work so I would have to unplug from the wall and reboot. After several episodes of this over 3 days, I uninstalled it and the problem disappeared.
Summary
Get the free 30-day version first to see how it works for you. And keep the installer on the desktop so you can uninstall it easily.

"Run Away in slow motion"
Version: Intego VirusBarrier X6 10.6.15
Pros
If you like the nuclear facility control center look . You will be in nirvana.
Cons
Slows your internet down to a absolute crawl. The MAC I tried it on is a high ram gaming machine.
So you have 30 days on a program that will NOT fix a infection, and will slow you down to slow motion.Summary
Not recommended on any level.

"Missed 148 email trojans, phishers & spoofed domains"
Version: Intego VirusBarrier X6 10.6.15
Pros
Relatively low cost (but you get what you pay for)
Cons
Suspicious that Intego was not working properly (a client advised me that I had forwarded him an email trojan) I ran ClamXav for Mac (freeware). It found 148 email trojans, phishing scams and spoofed domains that Intego had missed entirely. Wow. My jaw dropped.
Summary
Cannot recommend this software.

"Seems like good program, does not seem to effect speed"
Version: Intego VirusBarrier X6 10.6.15
Pros
Neat interface, seems to have a lot of good settings as to how often you want to scan, and exactly what you want scanned.
Cons
Not as intuitive for a first-timer as it could be, found myself wondering what is advised as to how often I want things scanned, and what settings I should use.
Summary
Overall, seems like a good program, I will pay to subscribe after the free trial is over.

"VirusBarrier runs like Mac software should"
Version: Intego VirusBarrier X6 10.6.15
Pros
Intego is the only Mac security company that focuses solely on protecting Apple products, and has been doing so for over 10 years.. They are usually, if not always, the first to update their threat filters when new malware is found . Intego is also most often the first to discover new Mac malware.
Running it on my MacBook Pro w/ OS X Lion, VirusBarrier X6 is robust software yet has a very light footprint on my Mac. VirusBarrier is excellent antivirus designed specifically with Mac users in mind, which I personally appreciate from an Apple security company. I trust Intego the most because they are the Apple security experts.Cons
Intego is a much smaller company than the larger Windows security firms, such as Sophos, Norton and McAfee. As such, their support team is not as huge as the big-name Windows security companies.
Summary
Intego focuses solely on Mac security, but because the Windows operating system has always been the primary target of malware, major Windows antivirus companies have already made a name for themselves. As Mac malware is on the rise, the same Windows security companies have created antivirus software for the Mac, hoping to compete for loyalty from Apple users.
Intego, as the only Apple-focused antivirus company for over ten years, is probably the best choice for protecting your Mac. Just as Mac malware is different than Windows malware, the same is true with the software you install on your computer; Windows software just doesn't belong on your Mac. Intego solves this problem as the expert in Apple security.
