Version: Instant Data Recovery 3.0.9.7
"Totally deceptive--not free at all, not even a trial."
Pros: Seems thorough; data organized in a tidy tree by file type. Basically very user friendly.
Cons: Was hoping to salvage some files from a corrupted database--supposedly you can save corrupted files, but scan just results in a list of files to recover or not, no info on whether deleted or corrupted. "Folders" just contains files, not folders.
Summary: The above screenshot is deceptive--supposedly runs a quick scan, but won't let you see the results until you download an .exe file from ParetoLogic, which is the real software. Then it runs the real scan, and although you can see the results, you can't recover a d---n thing until you purchase the product--for about $40 as of post date. [And that's supposedly a special only good until midnight of this date.] Not even a trial period. How did this get filed under freeware?
