"Software works, but malware installs with it"
Version: InfraRecorder Portable 0.50 Rev3
Pros
Copies CDs and DVDs . Interface is relatively easy to use.
Cons
Malware installs with the InfraRecorder. I've wasted many hours trying to get rid of all of it.
Summary
Unless you agree to let them download "free" software with the InfraRecorder software, you can't download InfraRecorder.
First, please excuse the typo's and spelling errors above. Reviews can't be edited.
The "free" software is everything Yahoo. A boatload installed with the software and attached itself to my Firefox. After house of work, I got rid of most Yahoo junk. A hidden attachment on Firefox that causes new tabs to be loaded with Yahoo search right in the middle has been impossible so far to get rid of.
My next step will be to uninstall InfraRecorder Portable because I think it may contain that last Yahoo deamon.
I think that cnet should not recomment any "free" software that hijacks computers. I wouldn't be surprised if InfraRecorder is owned by Yahoo. As I wrote to Yahoo, you have a far better chance of forming a long term relationship with seduction than with rape.

InfraRecorder did not have the last deamon, but I'll leave it off my PC anyway and not redownload it! . A Firefox add-on, "My Freeze", that had been added by InfraRecorder was the culprit. The "Unintstall" button for "My Freeze" in Firefox Add-on was disabled. Deleting My Freeze using the control panel didn't get rid of all of it, but a search of the programs folder found the other parts which I killed.
Yahoo search in Firefox tabs has not come back so far. I wonder what else "InfraRecorder" hid on my PC? -
"No Adding Files"
Version: InfraRecorder Portable 0.50
Pros
Easy to install and easy to uninstall.
Cons
When I quick erase a disc, InfraRecorder tells me the disc is not empty, when I want to burn this disc. When I want to add files to an existing written disc, InfraRecorder does not load the files, so I can not add files to this disc.
Summary
I tried many burning software programs, which all have error(s), but the best is Power2Go 6 from CyberLink. Roxio was very good, but now too big in size.

"Nice and Easy to Use, but Non-Functional."
Version: InfraRecorder Portable 0.44.1 Rv3
Pros
Nice, easy to use interface. Pretty straightforward and to the point.
Cons
Failed to burn anything.
Summary
While I liked the easy, straightforward layout, I got one of the most interesting results I've ever gotten from a burning program: a blank disc.
When I was satisfied with the disc session I had created and initiated the burning, a window popped up in the middle with its progress indicator and I watched it for a while. While it said that it was writing the image, I could clearly see that nothing was happening with my writable disc drive even though the bar was progressing. I thought it was just preparing the data, so figured it'd actually start writing once it got to the 50% mark. I watched until it hit 50%... 55%, still nothing. So, I decided to step outside. When I came back in, the disc tray was open. Foolishly, I thought, "Ah, it wrote the disc, after all." I popped the disc back in to verify the contents, only to find that it was still blank and the computer responded as such (Windows autoplay asking me what I wanted to do with the blank disc).
While the program layout was nice and easy, it failed in its most important function: to burn a disc. I give it some points for being easy to use, but... it gets only a 2 out of 5 from me for not functioning.
After its failure to burn for me, I went back to an old free burner I used to use, Burn4Free. While Burn4Free pretty much forces a toolbar to be installed (presumably onto IE since I never saw it show up in Firefox, which is my main browser), it at least worked for me. While I remember the program being a little cleaner and neater in appearance in its earlier days, it still worked, so, overall, I didn't care about its appearance.
So, if this program fails for you as it did for me, try Burn4Free. -
"It just works, wow Thank alot."

"Definitely A Winner!"
Version: InfraRecorder Portable 0.44.1 Rv3
Pros
Easy to use, nice feature set, runs great on a flash drive, free! Save or burn from ISO or BIN/CUE. Saves audio files in wav, mp3, wma, ogg. Burns double layer DVD media.
Cons
No cons so far.
Summary
For those who like to carry a complete array of portable, ready-to-use flash drive applications InfraRecorder is the missing link. If necessary, uninstalling the program is as simple as deleting it's folder. This and dozens of other useful apps that run on a flash drive (and the software to host them) are available from the "portableapps" site.

"Finally a program that "just works!""
Version: InfraRecorder Portable 0.44.1 Rv3
Pros
PROS: Free, powerful, and EASY to use. I tried imgburn and others but you have to know about Joliet, UDF and other format settings that made my head spin. So far, this Infrarecorder has done every job I throw at it without a hiccup. Thumbs up!
Cons
CONS: None, really.
