    "WaY OverPRICED for Most People"

    January 10, 2007  |   By palm_beach_florida

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Most people just want to turn the lights on and off. If you make the program look jazzy that's fine. The most successful small software programmers/sellers keep the price affordable so when most hard working people see the price they say, "I can afford that", I will paypal or whatever. Graphic Converter is one of the best programs and success stories and he did it by selling volume. If you sold this program for 30.00 you would get 100s of new customers right away. You will never build up a customer base with the price at 89.95, and now you want to charge 200.00? I would pay 30.00 for the program and IM sure many other people feel the same way. Graphic Converter has made the big money because when people see the price they buy it right away. Not the case here...

It's both not helpful and misleading to downrate or uprate this based on cost. People who read reviews are really interested in how well it functions. They can easily find out how much it costs, then can decide for themselves whether it is worth the cost. It doesn't help me at all when someone else decides what I am willing to pay. They are almost always wrong. And, of course, I have no interest in what they are willing to pay.

Although the price of 200.00 dollars seems high.. This program has saved me more then the cost of it in time..It controls my entire home it allows me to control my AV system and Alarm system from remote locations.. I have the ability to Raise the thermostat on the way home..From a trip from my cell phone.. so that i can save on electricity and return home to a comfortable setting...Cost is relative to what you get for it.. most people convenience is worth the cost of admission..The most important aspect of this program is that it has a very easy and Mac like interface..Therefore a very high wife approval..Again You get what you pay for

See this forum discussion thread about the price increase:

    http://www.perceptiveautomation.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1780

Home automation is a very different market than the need to convert image file formats (GraphicConverter). You are going to have to spend a few hundred dollars on home automation hardware to get started, so that is already going to weed out folks that aren't really interested in home automation.

Indigo 2.0 may not be worth $200 for you, but I assure you it is to others. There are much less expensive home automation software applications out there -- but they do far less. If they fit your needs, then by all means purchase one of those. That is not the market Indigo 2.0 is targeted towards.

    Regards,
    Matt
