    January 28, 2014  |   By rayintheuk123

    Version: Index.dat Analyzer 2

    Pros

Didn't run on Windows 8 ,although that was my fault for not looking.

    Cons

Installs 'Conduit Search' .This changes your browser homepage to Conduit.I uninstalled it from add/remove programs ,then did a scan with 'malwarebytes' and it found 8 left over items.

    Don't bother !

"Excellent Product Providing You Have The Right OS"

    March 19, 2013  |   By brucepallmighty

    Version: Index.dat Analyzer 2

    Pros

I Previously used index.dat whilst running XP as OS and it was FANTASTIC!!!
Every time I used it it removed all of the index.dat (which included that damn rubicon project (so I can shop online without all the rubbish pop ups & advertising windows showing deals on what I have done a search on, for eg, loft insulation using www.screwfix.com (yes, have you wondered why when you search for a particular product, it then appears EVERYWHERE you look?))

    Cons

Now with new PC using Windows 7 64bit as OS, index.dat WILL NOT work. index.dat is not the only software that fails to delete index.dat on Windows 7. I am yet to find a program that works (if anyone knows a good index.dat eraser/cleaner, please let me know). Every program I have tried cannot flush the dns buffers on Win 7 and therefore fails.

    Summary

Come on index.dat. Please update for new OS's

"NOT compatible with Vista Ultimate (64) SP 2"

    March 2, 2013  |   By Frog9999

    Version: Index.dat Analyzer 2

    Pros

It gave an error message about not being compatible with the operating system when a run was attempted.
    Uninstall worked.

    Cons

It should have wider compatibility or be removed from CNET's download list. After all Vista is now an "older" operating system.
It repeatedly tries to load several spam tool bars during install, you really have to read carefully to avoid them. Basically this is a spam trojan.

    "Awful -- don't bother"

    June 8, 2012  |   By rlweiner

    Version: Index.dat Analyzer 2

    Pros

    None -- don't bother.

    Cons

Tried to change my default search engine and install a browser toolbar. Didn't ask for permission to do either. After all that, it said my OS (Win 7) isn't supported. A decent installer would check that first.

    Summary

    Horrible.

    "Its Great!"

    August 1, 2011  |   By exclusive54

    Version: Index.dat Analyzer 2

    Pros

Installs quickly and easily. After you scan your system for index.dat files, hit the Auto Delete button and it immediately empties all files. (You can also selectively delete files.)

    Cons

Needs a simple manual for dummies like me.

    Summary

After downloading Version 2 from CNET, go directly to the company's website (www.systenance.com) and download Version 2.5 (10/01/09)which is Windows Vista supported.

"NOT compatible with Windows 7 Starter!"

    April 20, 2011  |   By saraht777

    Version: Index.dat Analyzer 2

    Pros

I used this on my home desk top computer and was really impressed with the results!

    Cons

I downloaded it but it wouldn't install and I had a really hard time finding any information on why it was not working on my Windows 7 Starter laptop. Finally I found one post saying it was not compatible with Windows 7 Starter! :(

    Summary

I have not been able to find anything comparable to the index.dat for use on my Windows 7 Starter laptop. I wish I could find a program like this for my Starter.
