    "Works and it's free"

    November 14, 2014  |   By dennphill

    Version: ImgBurn 2.5.8

    Pros

    Works
    Free
    (Made me happy)

    Cons

WATCH: for installs of adware-type programs and other stuff! (That's how they give it to you free.)
You gotta be a smart freeware-installer to not miss the crap they try to stuff on your PC.

    "Excellent free burning software"

    November 9, 2014  |   By Hobby_boy

    Version: ImgBurn 2.5.8

    Pros

ImgBurn is one of the best free CD/DVD burners that I have used for burning iso files to a disc.

    The main pros are:
    It is completely free
It is lightweight compared to other burners - the full installation is only 3MB in size.
Displays disc information for the inserted disc - like manufacturer, type, and size.
Supports both single and multi track discs - can read audio CDs into a bin/cue file which can be mounted with Daemon Tools or be burnt to another CD using ImgBurn.
Supports writing files to disc - You need to use the image builder first, then burn the generated iso file to the disc.

    Cons

The only real con is that the installer contains opencandy, but it can easily be overcome by several methods, which are:
Installing unchecky - prevents opencandy offers coming up
Disconnecting from the internet - also prevents offers coming up
Running with /nocandy - disables opencandy during installation

You can also extract the imgburn files using 7-Zip into a folder, and it will still work fine.

    Summary

Overall, ImgBurn is a solid burning program, and is really feature rich.

Also make sure to download it from the ImgBurn website, or using the Direct Download link on Cnet so you get the real installer.

    "Installer triggers a virus warning"

    October 9, 2014  |   By FunkyBrewster

    Version: ImgBurn 2.5.8

    Pros

    Worked well in the past

    Cons

The current installer trips an anti-virus warning (Trend Micro AV) and is deleted before I can even open it

    Summary

I'm not taking chances with malware. I'll have to find another program to replace Imgburn.

"AntiVirus popped right up when I tried to install"

    August 29, 2014  |   By cautionflag1956

    Version: ImgBurn 2.5.8

    Pros

none- Antivirus came on so I stopped the process

    Cons

Must be something in there to trip my Antivirus. More chance than I want to take. I am disappointed CNET would not recheck the programs every now and then to see what is with them

    Summary

I didn't want to risk it. My antivirus doesn't trigger very often but this did it. I'm not sure how the program works but trying to download it is a good way to check your antivirus

"Works well, beware the craplets and pusware"

    May 16, 2014  |   By shadybuffalo

    Version: ImgBurn 2.5.8

    Pros

    Does the job well

    Cons

Infested with craplets and pusware (potentially unwanted software) After upgrading to latest version it took me over a week to find and remove all the browser hijackers and other junk that came with it.

    Summary

I used to like this package, but after the latest version update with all the crap it comes with, I have removed it and paid for a professional package

"Hands down the best CD/DVD burning software for Windows"

    April 30, 2014  |   By ALittleTechSavvy

    Version: ImgBurn 2.5.8

    Pros

Again, hands down the best CD/DVD burning software for Windows.

Several reviewers have complained about the extra crap that can be installed if you're not careful. TAKE A FEW SECONDS TO READ WHAT YOU ARE AGREEING TO. OMG people, use your brain.

This is excellent software and you just need to be smarter than the ones and zeros...

If you're not able to read what you are agreeing to would you kindly keep your bogus reviews to yourself?

I was surprised to see the excellent software I have been using for years was installing malware, that is until I ran the installer and realized how easy it was to click a few things and uncheck a few boxes. I was even prepared to run a virus scan after I installed it because it's such a good program.

I rely on Cnet for reviews and a safe place to download all my software, please, please, please use your brain and don't give bogus reviews just because you have the mental computational power of a gnat.

    Cons

You have to be smart enough to select custom install a couple times and make sure you don't agree to something you don't want. TAKE A FEW SECONDS TO READ WHAT YOU ARE AGREEING TO. SMH.

The only real con to this program is that it has a spartan GUI that the average person might be intimidated by. But it's pretty simple actually, if you want to burn an .img you click the button that says "Write image file to disk" with the little icon for the .img file with an arrow pointing to the little CD/DVD icon, and so forth. Sigh.

    Summary

I really hope this review will squash all the bogus bad reviews. I can't stress enough that you need to read what you are agreeing to and have an IQ larger than your shoe size, otherwise, keep it to yourself.
