ImgBurn is a lightweight CD/DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-ray burning application that has several modes, each for performing a different task: Read - read a disc to an image file; Build - creates an image file from files on your computer or network (you also can write the files directly to a disc); Write - write an image file to a disc; Verify - ensure that a disc is 100% readable (you can also have ImgBurn compare it against a given image file to ensure the actual data is correct); and Discovery - used in combination with DVDInfoPro, you can check the quality of the burns your drive is producing.
What's new in this version: Version 2.5.6 added workaround for autoloaders that don't report an error when the input bin is empty and cause the program to keep loading and unloading non-existent media as part of a batch mode read, queued write operation.

This is the only program i have used since its been released, its simple, easy and does everything i want to do perfectly. I am a IT guy and this is the only free burning program i would recommend to anybody, even if someone wanted to buy one this one is much better.

Specifically an image file burner. Would love it if it also could handle audio files, as well.
Summary
Aside for the caveat mentioned above, this program is a great tool. I also love the happy-go-lucky environment of the program (the little island tune from the success and the "Uh Oh!" from a failure makes me smile. I'm smiling right now. When's the last time you smiled over making a coaster? hahaha). For making/burning disc images, it is a delightful, FREE program.

Easy to use, useful hints, works reliable. The audio comments about success (music) or if it fails ("Oh no") are hilarious.

The program should tell that if you burn blue-rays too fast there will be interruptions while playing.

"The Absolute Best Burner"

Pros
Easy to install. No error(s) and no problem(s). ImgBurn does not contain adware or spyware. Perfect for backing-up files and folders, where you keep the total amount of bytes close to the maximum of the disc, because there is no multisession feature and you just have to get used to this. You can also copy discs with ImgBurn, but then you have to first make an image of the source disc to the desktop and then burn this image to a disc. I have had all sorts of burning problems with Nero (Burning errors), Roxio (IE compatibility), Ashampoo (Media errors) and Power2Go (keeps hanging during burning) and I am very happy that I found ImgBurn, which supports the latest burners. Not to forget: ImgBurn is free.
