"A joy to use!"
Version: Imagicon 4.4
Pros
Does exactly what it's designed to do, with the simplicity and speed that we always hope for. Fast, straightforwarded in function, easy navigation. You will like it!
Cons
None that I could discern.
Summary
Just a great little utility to convert any image to an .ico file, with the utmost ease!! Could not be simpler. After you open the program, it's visible window on the desktop can sit side-by-side with whatever folder window in which you are working with image files. It's just a matter of dragging the image file(s) over and dropping into the Imagicon window. Voila!! Like magic, the .jpg's (or whatever format) are instantly converted to .ico files and automatically extracted, inserted into the source folder where the original image format files are located.

"Does not work properly"
Version: Imagicon 4.4
Pros
***none***
Cons
Does not work properly.
Summary
I tried using a wide range of images as well as all possible settings, but ALL the icons produced had white borders around them which the original image did not. Icons with white borders are useless.

"No multipage icons"
Version: Imagicon 4.4
Pros
Very friendly user interface

Windows ICO files are multipage images: various size images merged into a single file. Yet, Imagicon generates files with just one image.
Summary
Won't create true ICO files.

"Free, simple, easy!"
Version: Imagicon 4.4
Pros
Easy to quickly convert any image into a desktop icon.
Cons
My sink is still full of dirty dishes. :P
Summary
Just what I was looking for! I wanted to distinguish links and learning games on my desktop for my children (particularly my pre-reader). WIth this simple little program, I was able to create custom icons in just minutes, without having to do more than glance at the help file for a minute. Pictures cannot be converted if they are in GIF format but that is easy to solve by selecting "save as type" when saving your images. Use any image in on your computer or save any image from the web, drag and drop it into the little Imagicon box, and viola - it's automatically in the icon files. To change a desktop icon, just right-click and select, "properties" to see the "change icon" box. Thanks for a great little program that made this mommy's life a little easier! :)
