"useful for quickly producing creative graphic effects"
Version: Image Tricks 2.4.2
Pros
easy to use; effects take place quickly; I've used the graphic generator to prepare backgrounds for leaflets and flyers; instant masks are useful.
Cons
At this price, what's not to like?
Summary
I use the Pro version because it gives me a further range of options for manipulating images, particularly when I need to create backgrounds for web or print purposes. It's prime features are its ease of use, speed in production and value for money.

"Plenty of good quality effects but limited basics."
Version: Image Tricks 2.3.3
Pros
The effects provided are wide ranging and of a good - sometimes high - standard, particularly the rather impressive pattern generators. Resizing and cropping are as simple as they should be and the UI is vitually fool proof.
Cons
Absence of basic tools for selecting, moving, painting or drawing is a really big negative - you just can't do them - no stiching or comping! Even the most basic IE app should be able to do those things. No text, and few effects aren't so hot.
Summary
But hey, it is free! Well worth the download if you want some great effects to use alongside Photoshop, but not so great as an all-in editor.
The halftoning effects must get a mention too, they are simply spot on!
Hopefully the next release will add the missing tools - rectangular and circular selecting as well as at least a freehand lasso, a move tool, paintbrush and airbrush, pencil - all with relevant variables, and maybe the ability to add a seperate (ie: independantly editable) layer of text for annotations etc would all be nice to see.
As it's a young app, I'd be interested to see where it gets to in another 2 or 3 versions. -
"easy to resize images"
Version: Image Tricks 2.3.3
Pros
I wanted a quick way to resize an image to exactly the size I needed, without cropping it. This is it!
Cons
There are some odd effects that are hard to undo, but it's fun to play with them. (Close without saving works great!)

"Pitter Pattern, Heart a Flutter ? about Image Tricks"
Version: Image Tricks 2.4
Summary

Excellent if you're into designing new patterns and manipulating images in amazing new ways. It is described as "a free application to edit and generate images. It uses Mac OS X Tiger Core Image filters" and like other Mac Core based software, it is powerful and very surprising.
The free version gives you a multitude of tools, but for only another $14.95 (currently), I highly recommend that you shell out for the Pro version and get ALL the goodies if you too are a pattern and texture fiend.
I tried it out for an hour today, and bought the Pro version today? it's a slam dunk. -

"Supercalifraliexpialidocious!!!"
Version: Image Tricks 1.2
Pros
See all effects and real time previews without having to toggle any palettes or such. The generators also allow you to create your own graphic designs or wall papers.
Cons
Some of the generators work only in the pro version, but then who needs to generate atom fractals and such anyway?

Very good easy to use tool. Not sure why a standalone installer is necessary, but works well and is free!
