"Works great, easy to use, but CRASHES EVERY TIME!!!"
Version: IconArt 2.0
Pros
Easy to use, free, does the job, great program
Cons
CRASHES EVERY SINGLE TIME I USE IT (Iconart has encountered an error and needs to close)!!! For some reason if I move the "iconart has encountered an error..." window i can still use it though.
Summary
Great program, but UNTIL THEY FIX THE CONSTANT CRASHING BUG, I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM AT ALL!!! if it didn't have that flaw, I'd give it 5/5 stars.

"Does The Job"
Version: IconArt 2.0
Pros
Relatively simple to use with some basic tools to get the job done. Can create animated icons.
Cons
Lacks advanced tools and customisation options. Has the occasional bug that will either cause random results or cause the software to crash. Main window is not resizable. No support for layers (and the possibilities that layers can support).
Summary
If you want to make icon files, this is a neat little tool that will pretty much do what you need for free. It comes with only very basic drawing tools (comparable to MS Paint), so if you want to create something a little more modern looking, I recommend making your icon in Photoshop then copying and pasting the image into this program to create the icon file.
It's a good tool for beginners; advanced users will, however, need to start looking for other programs and might need to consider spending a little money to get a program that has a few more features that are necessary in a more professional development environment.
For what it does, this is a useful tool that does a good job. Amateur programmers and freeware developers are best suited and will find this package useful to create custom icons for their applications for free.
