"Lifesaver"
Version: Icon Restore 1.0
Summary
This program does exactly what I need. It's small, easy to install, and nicely integrated into the right mouse button menu. A BIG help after being in Safe Mode or after changing video modes.
Thanks for sharing, Tim! -
"It works as described"
Version: Icon Restore 1.0
Summary
I suspect that one of my 'clean up' programs is erasing the desktop information. Several times a week my icons will be lined up like soldiers (and I have the auto arrange unchecked).
I found this wonderful, free, file--and it does just what I want.
You must understand that it's not automatic. If you add or delete icons regularly you must remember to save the new desktop setting. But this is so easy--the only problem is remembering to do it! -
"Great little application"
Version: Icon Restore 1.0
Summary
Thank You Tim Taylor for making the Microsoft "Layout.dll" file available to those of us who would otherwise still be wondering "what happened" and how do I get back to how "it" was.

"Simple, effective and FREE!"
Version: Icon Restore 1.0
Summary
I searched all over for exactly what Icon Restore does but couldn't find anything that was free or as simple. This should be a built in feature that comes with Windows. Excellent program!

"Don't need to be a geek to use it!!!"
Version: Icon Restore 1.0
Summary
Icon Restore is exactly what I have been looking for. I read a significant amount about how to do this myself
as there has been a lot written about it. I am not at all comfortable working in or with the Windows registry or
system folders. This little application took care of all the details and enabled me, a regular every day "Joe", to
have a feature that I have always wanted. Great Job Tim Taylor! -
"This is actually a Microsoft app!"
Version: Icon Restore 1.0
Summary
"Icon Restore" is simply a setup app that installs Microsoft's "Layout.dll" file.
It was NOT written by Tim Taylor at all. Test this for yourself by running the app
and then check the properties of "Layout.dll" in your System folder. It was in fact
written by Mark Carroll of Microsoft in 1996 and is available at www.microsoft.com
as part of their free Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit. For your information. -
"Does what it says on the tin"
Version: Icon Restore 1.0
Summary
Works well, right click access via My Computer icon. Not in tray.

"Works great!"
Version: Icon Restore 1.0
Summary
I have been looking for this sort of fix for along time. Safe Mode and Destop Resizing always caused me to lose my icons placement. Now no more! This program installs easily on WinME and works like a charm!
