Editors' reviewWith so many FTP freeware programs on the market, we expect a lot more from commercial programs. IceFTP is a reliable download manager, but with a limited set of features it falls short of our expectations. During testing, we were able to upload and download a series of files without problem. Yet if a download is interrupted, the program won't be able to resume the download. It doesn't support secure protocols, and can't be programmed to set automatic downloads. One sticking point for us is that IceFTP doesn't cache FTP directories, which can slow down browsing. The standard interface (similar to many other file-sharing programs) is straightforward and easy to use. Overall, this is a basic program that will perform its basic functions well, but won't impress.
IceFTP is a FTP client with a transfer queue that's able to download multiple files at the same time, while still allowing you to browse the FTP site. The application downloads MP3 music, movies, and software, it has a drag-and-drop interface, and is multithreaded with up to eight synchronous transfers. You can download from multiple servers at the same time, it has an original Napster-type interface, and is anti-idle.
