    "Powerful and fast"

    December 19, 2012  |   By Philip_Goddard

    Pros

Does what is claimed, and indeed more!
Like Revo Uninstaller, it calls the target program's uninstall routing, and then does a scan to find registry and file leftovers, then displaying any of those that are found, for optional deletion.

The Forced Uninstall (where there is no functional native uninstall routine) is a nice bonus, though I have not had cause to use and thus test it yet.

    Cons

The CNet download was not the current version, so the program nags me to get the latest version, but if I click OK, I'm taken to the program's page on the Iobit website, which would be great except that their download link takes one to the program's download page on FreeNew.net, which is a BAD site, which uses a deceitful, indeed malicious, 'downloader' program to download the intended program plus a whole lot of crapware and indeed sneakily installed spyware or other malware.

    Summary

I could no longer use the freeware version of Revo Uninstaller once I'd upgraded from Win7 to Win8, but in any case even in Win7 that program was extremely slow in its leftovers search after the actual uninstallation of a program. Iobit Uninstaller has so far worked brilliantly for me, its leftovers search being so quick that at first I thought it simply wasn't doing a proper job - but it has since shown up good lists of leftovers from some programs, and it looks as though it really is working fine.

I draw attention particularly to this program's leftovers search, because that function is not mentioned at all on Iobit's site, so putting many people off using the particular program because they think it doesn't do a leftovers search and would thus be of limited use.

I would give the program a 5-star rating, but have docked a star because of Iobit's using a bad download site for its programs so that if you download from there you are liable to get crapware and malicious programs installed in their computers without their permission. If you want to update the program, it is thus important to do so from some other site and keep clear of Iobit (sorry!) and FreeNew.net.
