Version: IL-2 Sturmovik demo
"A powerful and challenging demo flight sim"
Summary: Considering that this is freeware, it is a superb game. Even with the limitations (full features only available in the complete game) there are a lot of options. The demo allows you to fly four Russian planes -- IL-2, P-39, Yak-9, La-5 -- and two German planes -- Bf-109 and Fw-190. You can create games using the Quick Mission Builder (numerous features) or fly some of the sample "Single Missions" included with the demo.
CHEAT: Unfortunately, you cannot create your own missions, since the Full Mission Builder is deactivated in the demo, but there IS a way to directly edit the .mis file (using Notepad) in the mission folder to customize the pre-built missions. You want to edit the data under the [MAIN] header, selecting another one of the Wings in the mission, and/or changing sides (Russian is "1" and German is "2"). For more info. on the Wing data, scroll down. [Wing] lists the flights in the mission. Choose one of those flights, for ex. [8GvShAP10] and edit that data also if you like. It takes some figuring out but is fairly intuitive. Good luck!
