"Great facilitator when moving to a new computer"
Version: IE PassView 1.17
Pros
Super easy to use.
Saves the logins and passwords to a text file
If your online banking login and password show up in the list, time to change banks!Cons
None that I can find.
Summary
I have used this many times to save the ie logins and passwords for my clients when their system needs to be reinstalled or when they are moving to a new system. I also used it for myself when moving to a new computer system. As a result, I discovered that my banking login and password were revealed. Soon after I changed banks and ran the software again...the new bank is much more secure. I would have never known had I not run this program. Thank you NirSoft!

"Very effective, but scary."
Version: IE PassView 1.17
Pros
Works well and fast. Very useful for getting back to that site you just HAD to register for last month, but didn't write down the login.
Cons
If its this fast and easy, the bad guys can clean your clock in less than a minute! Probably more of an insider threat than on a private computer behind a firewall and router, and all patches and updates applied.
Summary
Overall a very good program from a well trusted and generous author, Nir Sofer. Be careful where you install it and who has access to it on your computer. (A third party using your computer could have a copy of their own, BE CAREFUL.)

Cons

Summary
McAfee stopped the instal saying there was a trojan detected. I shut down my internet connection and uninstalled what was installed. Not worth the risk.

"Better than other programs even though it didn't work"
Version: IE PassView 1.09
Pros
This program did at least find the ID that I was looking for which was better than most of the other free programs. I was trying to recover a password from a URL that had a port number, so that might be why it didn't work
Cons
Did not correctly recover the password that I was looking for.
Summary
It's worth trying to download this and see if it will work for you.
IMPORTANT. Your antivirus program will probably identify this as a "Hacker Tool". That does not mean that this program has a virus. This is a tool that can be used by a hacker. After all, you are trying to "hack" into your own system to recover your forgotten password.
Just ignore the hacker tool warning or disable your antivirus while using this program. -
