    "Good at losing your documents"

    March 15, 2012  |   By eatdrumz

    Version: IDriveSync 1.0

    Pros

    It's easy to uninstall!

    Cons

Loses your files. I think that's enough to not want to use it.

    Summary

As a songwriter, I thought it would be great to have something that could sync the 3 devices I write on. Regular software was a pain, so I tried this.
Lost the last 3 songs I wrote, and numerous other documents.
Thank God, I had them backed up on a thumb drive, or I'd be screwed!
    In my humble opinion, this service b l o w s!

    "Paint dries faster"

    January 13, 2012  |   By howardferns

    Version: IDriveSync 1.0

    Pros

    5 GB free space.

    Cons

Loaded it with 2 folders of photos and 1 large file. Sync kept stopping, and I had to keep starting it again. You have to keep both machines going, too, mustn't let them sleep or hibernate. By nightfall it had done 700 MB out of 5 GB. I gave up and completely emptied it of my files, yet when I uninstalled IDriveSync and deleted its remaining folders, 500 MB went into my Recycle Bin. Now where did that come from?

    Summary

Dropbox and SugarSync work like a dream compared with this junk.

    Updated on Jan 15, 2012

I've just found out that even though I uninstalled it, and used FileLocator Lite to find and delete a number of leftover files and folders, there was still a 13.7 MB folder remaining in my Program Files!

    "doesnt actually sync.."

    December 11, 2011  |   By James_RS

    Version: IDriveSync 1.0

    Pros

    Unlimited Space

    Cons

    Does not sync
Had to continually end task in task manager
Duplicates current files/folders to its own location - so doubles everything up

    Summary

    Crap not worth it.

    "Only Mediocre"

    February 6, 2011  |   By mikel99

    Version: IDriveSync 1.0

    Pros

    Did sync some files.

    Cons

    Only partially works.
Snyc system created extra folders (with an .IDR extension) that were copies of existing data. Copied some folders to unexpected locations.
Has not worked well with Windows 7 at all.

    Summary

For Win 7 users, I recommend Windows Live Mesh - it works MUCH better - and while it says it is still in bet, it certainly works better than this program.

    Updated on Feb 7, 2011

As another option, try SugarSync - I just started working with it, but its very easy to use and seriously better than this tool. So far it's working with XP and Win7 easily and without any problems. Syncs like a champ, and you just can't beat free - I'm considering monthly subscription, it's so good.

"Sync performance poor when updating laptops."

    May 18, 2010  |   By gjyaffe

    Version: IDriveSync 1.0

    Pros

The current release works well when all devices are fully up and connected to the internet.

    Cons

Devices asleep/disconnected from the internet are not updated when connected/awakened. Syncing happens only when changes are made while all PCs are up and connected. There is no option for manually initiating a sync; big problem for road warriors.

    Summary

This is a work in progress, and not quite ready for "prime time."
