I'm old school ICQ and have used it since it's inception. This version is OK but nothing to write home about.

Has too many bells and whistles that are useless for most users. Random chat to find new contacts to chat with is pathetic. I have yet to be able to talk to anyone on it. For whatever reason it seems to be stuck on finding contacts mostly in Germany and Russia and that area of the world. Seldom does it find users in other parts of the world. You can't send a friendly introductory message on random chat, you can only send an "invitation" to someone it finds online. I have no idea what message the other person receives when I click that button. I have received three new contacts lately which I assume came through random chat, again from people in Germany, and the "invitation" was simply a standard system message that someone added me to their contact list and did I want to accept, which I don't normally allow without knowing them first. Tech support at ICQ is nonexistant. Support is provided on Forums by other users but there are so many people and postings wanting help it is almost totally useless. One major problem with ICQ which seems to continue is suddenly not being able to log on due to "invalid password" and even though they have a password retreval system it doesn't ever seem to work. Forums are full of people in absolute panic trying to retrieve their accounts. I have lost two ICQ accounts in years past that I could not get back. When that happens there go all your contacts. Make sure if you have someone you REALLY want to stay in contact with that you get another way such as email or another IM program to get back in touch with them. If you loose your account there is no way to get it back and re-establish your contacts. I could write a book on ICQ problems but you get the idea. ICQ frequently sucks big time and they could care less about their users. I wish AOL had stayed away from it and the original developers still controlled it.

Ancient as the caveman. If you want video/voice conferencing.....then try smoke signals and 2 cans tied to a string. They would be INFINITELY more reliable and less buggy than ICQ. ICQ is WAY past it's usefullness (if it ever was). There are MANY programs out there that are FAR FAR superior to this. Voice/video conferencing is HORRIBLE at best. It crashes and locks up so much that it's not worth the hassle and aggravation. If you yearn for the days when dinosaurs roamed the planet and fire was unheard of then this is the program for you. :-)

Well ... when I am tired of serious chat clients like YM or MSNM I am going back to this old "little" ICQ.
You can chat and play some kind of a stupid funny game ZOOPALOOLA. If you are living in Romania you can still find a lot of ICQ users over here, most of them womans :)
maybe because of the look of this client:

- sweet
- childish
- like a candy
The feeling is very different from other chat clients and sometimes I like the fact other people don't know what ICQ is. It's more like of a private network and I like this feeling of being part of a minority.
I really recommend this download!

I would like more games like ZOOPALOOLA. I would like more animals and more stupid things... :)
