"Simple and Adequate"
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.39
Pros
-It claims it is free, and it is actually free!
-Relatively simple to use
-Adequate for my purposesCons
-Be careful during installation! - they try to shovel more software on you.
-Interface not very pleasing, but relatively functional.Summary
I was looking for a free solution to track the hours I spend on various projects and give me a report about how I'm spending my time. This solution is adequate for doing so. While not as pretty as some other time reporting software (eg. Advanced Time Reports) it is, in fact, free and not a sneaky trial version with limited functionality or usage period.
As a previous comment mentioned, they try to install a bunch of other NCH software during the install process for HourGuard. It lists all of this software as "Recommended". Simply uncheck all of the boxes and you won't install it. While technically they ask you to install it, they are pretty sneaky about it. -
"Good enough, but not great."
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.39
Pros
Easy to use, works as described.
Good for the price... it's free. (However, it does install a bunch of links to their paid products.)Cons
Didn't appreciate the sneaky way they added all those extra links without asking. For me, that is reason enough to look for a different solution.
Summary
Good product, but I will not download anything from NCH Software again.

"Probably very good software"
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.37
Pros
My son and I have tried some other NCH programs. They seem to work very well, lean and fast with a fair number of features, some free apps, some low cost. I downloaded HourGuard for a business I haven't kicked off yet, so not much testing so far.
Cons
The "other software", see above, is the "NCH Software Suite". It's links to download a number of their products that will eventually require payment. But they seem to be good from what I can tell and it's easy to ignore. Just don't open the suite.
Summary
It appears a number of software publishers are adopting a similar business model: good, low cost software that requires payment for updates/upgrades after the first year or so, but the original has few or no bugs so if you like it the way it is there is no need to "upgrade". Another example is Foxit Software premium packages, good stuff, excellent support and then you pay reasonable charges for "upgrades". Probably worth it to get applications that work right to begin with. FYI, NCH is Australian and Foxit is Chinese.

"everything I need, except....."
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.37
Pros
love the fact that you can track your time spent, by hitting an on / off button when you start and when you end. you can have mulitple clients.
Cons
reporting (to create an invoice) is limited and problamatic.
Summary
you can only generate a report over time periods, and not per task or project. this is really frustrating if you want to generate a report of tasks done for the last invoicable month, but some of the tasks started 2 months ago for instance. the report only includes hours in the time you have specified. to include these longer projects you have to make your time window larger and then all the other smaller tasks which you have already invoiced last month are included. this software has been the reason that I invoiced too little hours on some projects and lost money. other than this problem, its perfect for my needs.

"Installs other internet software on your computer"
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.37
Pros
did not run it long enough to evaluate it
Cons
installs other software that I did not want on the computer
Summary
installs other software that I did not want on the computer

"Absolutely Perfect!"
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.34
Pros
Click to start timer.
Click to stop timer.
Double click a task to start timing that task.
Reports show how much time and money has been spent on a task or client.
Simple and simply perfect!Cons
Nothing to tell. So far it's wonderful.
Summary
If you're a freelancer looking to keep track of the time and associated money you spend on a project, this is a great option. It sits on my desktop, ready and waiting for me to use it. I really, really like it.

"Excellent gadget for recording time spent on projects"
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.34
Pros
Easy to install and use - excellent software for freelances and others tracking time against projects and activities. Produces reports and invoices if needed too. Simple click to start or stop mechanism.
Cons
What's not to like?
Summary
Got started in seconds having searched for a quick free interface to log my time and projects.
-
"Snappy, Simple, Unobtrusive"
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.34
Pros
Even an absent-minded fellow like me remembers to log my work time. Verily, the last thing you want in a work time logger is overkill. If you need to track your work time you will actually really use this app. Great reporting and invoicing.
Cons
Please make the text that indicates active task and elapsed time much larger and utterly obvious. Put a spinning ball or other garish indicator on the screen.
Summary
You track your task time therefore you need this application.
-
"Easy to use"
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.3
Pros
easy to create reports, and easy to add notes respectively after a task has been stopped
Cons
It would be really useful if a report could be created (at the press of a button)showing each line of the timesheet with date, task, narrative and hours without having to export each days pages to csv. Then this would be a killer.
Summary
A really good product

"Great software, though still only used it for one day."
Version: HourGuard Time Sheet 1.26
Pros

Cons
