The ads that show up are not very well screened by the makers of the software.
Summary
An ad in the top center of everywebsite that I visited contained a trojan. My virus soft caught it but it kept coming back every 3 seconds and it became impossible to use. I uninstalled and downloaded again but to no avail. As soon as I end the software the trojans stop appearing. The viruses aren't in the software itself but in the ads that the software allows. The viruses show up in the temp folders for hte browser. Its really too bad because the software does what it advertises. I hope that they screen their advertisers better in the future. I am glad that I had virus software. Use at your own risk.

helpfull i viewing blocke sites. especially for us living in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

anyone please explain.. before i used to view youtube videos without any problem. when i installed hotspotshield still i can watch youtube without any problem. but when i decided to uninstall hotspotshield there goes the problem i can no longer access to youtube sites. everytime i open youtube it says." cannot access to the server" at first i didnt knew it has something to do with uninstalling hotspotshield. i just find it out when i again install hotspotshield and try to access youtube site with hotspotshield connected on background and success once again i can watch youtube videos but then again when i disconnect hotspotshield and try to open youtube again network says " cannot connect to the server" thats when i figured out it has something to do with hotspotshield...so from then on i used to watch youtube with hotspotshield connected on the background but with much slow video download than usual when i still dont had hotspotshield installed in my system

When you use this software at a Wifi Hotspot that filters certain content, this program gets around the filter, thus allowing you to be free to surf and download whatever you wish!
Cons
Only drawback is the ad banner at the top of the screen. You can close it, but it keeps coming back. If you don't run the program the ads won't appear.

It works changes the ip address, the ads are placed above the browser they are not bad. People should understand this software is free.
Cons
I have used this for a while and lately it has issues with https secure sites. Which most sites require to LOGIN into email or even Yahoo, Hotmail or Google. Customer support seems to not respond to emails
