Version: Homeland Security Threat Monitor 1.0.3
"Pointless program, at least it doesn't crash"
Summary: The good news: as far as I can tell it's rock solid stable and uses minimal memory and internet bandwidth.
The bad news: It performs a completely useless function. Instead of Homeland Security Threat Monitor, they could call it the "How Much Bush Wants to Use Terrorism Paranoia to Get Re-elected Monitor". 1. If you actually feel you need real-time notification of changes in the ol' Paranoia Meter I'm sure between news, TV, human interaction (if any), etc you'll probably be able to find out. Or just go to their website every now and then. It's kind of sad that people take this kind of obvious rubbish so seriously. It doesn't even account for obvious gradations in danger based on location... Southern Iowa is probably a bit less likely to get nailed by crazed terrorists with anthrax than, say, New York. "Gee Granny, I'd really love to go for a walk with you but there's a little icon in the bottom of my computer screen and it just changed color so I'm gonna go hide in the basement instead despite the fact that we live in a corn field that no terrorist would bother looking sideways at."
But at least it doesn't crash. And I suppose it gets some credit for being incredibly easy to use. Now if only it did something useful.
