"Stable, Friendly and Fast Hand-Coding"
Version: HomeSite 5.5
Pros
I use lots of boilerplate, and the Code Snippets feature is superior to that of similar HTML editors. This is well laid-out, the File Management features are great and you can work fast & hassle-free. I agree with the editors' review on this completely.
Cons
When Alliare still owned this, support was great. I suspect the decreased support from MacroMedia for HomeSite is their view of this as a "lighweight" program compared to their flagship product, Dreamweaver. You could not pay me enough to force me to use DreamWeaver or Fireworks again, so the "seamlessness" from HomeSite to these is lost on me. And the built-in CSS editor? You can write the CSS yourself far faster.

Cons

"Great for coders with XP"
Version: HomeSite 5.5
Summary
I have Studio MX. I tried Dreamweaver but it, as the review says, takes a big bite of resources, and there are too many features. I am a coder, and so Homesite's advanced code tools are just the thing, for DW does a poor job at that stuff. However, on 98SE 96mb RAM, it crashes sometimes and it does not remember files well. It also sometimes will not close. But it works better than DW on there.

"UnReliable - No Support"
Version: HomeSite 5.5
Summary
Was a Great Product. But Is now Buggy and unreliable with absolutely no support from Macromedia. You should consider another editor.

"Quriky & Buggy"
Version: HomeSite 5.5
Summary
Network browsing is very slow when saving through the dialog box. And poor product support. They release the updated version and still buggy. I've been using this software since version 4.0 and it is not much better since Macromedia has taken it over. I'm looking for an alternative.

"Once good.. not anymore"
Version: HomeSite 5.5
Summary
Although I used to love HomeSite, it's just not the same anymore. Once I thought of HomeSite as the most cutting edge web editor, but now it's starting to look old and faint. It's obvious that Macromedia really wanna push the users towards their more expensive Dreamweaver! Too bad, it really was a great product in the Allaire days.

"The html editor"
Version: HomeSite 5.5
Summary
Originally an Allaire product, coders love homesite and cold fusion studio (homesite's big brother) - however Macromedia pushes Dreamweaver as a weak replacement for a tag based editor.
