Editors' Review

Hoarding Frames offers a large number of tools, but a messy interface seriously bogs it down in many ways, forcing you to wait through long video ads and dig through unnecessarily complex lists of options. The result is an app that feels unnaturally convoluted at times with flashes of insight that you'll wish were better executed because the ideas here are often very good.

After installation of Hoarding Frames, you'll be directed to a home interface that is confusing, at first. Filters and effects are on the left and the frame options are on the right. The photo you select is in the middle. Tap the photo to access the menu, which contains a number of options that are redundant to the menus already on the screen. There are a good number of frames to choose from and some are very creative, such as billboards or airplane flyovers. It's a more unique list of frames than we've seen in some time. But the filters are standard and most of them will remain locked without a paid upgrade. Additionally, and this is the biggest drawback of Hoarding Frames, whenever you load a new photo for editing, you'll be forced to watch a 30-second video ad. The ad doesn't interrupt anything and it goes away when done, but it is consistently there and becomes an enormous frustration.

Hoarding Frames tries to use a unique interface to make editing your photos easier but redundant menus, locked options, and an overzealous ad system make for a frustrating interface and an app that ultimately isn't a bargain, even for free.
