"Good but can be improved"
Version: Help Explorer Viewer 3
Pros
Biggest advantage over MS CHM viewer is that you can change font size of the document without touching internet font size settings
Cons
1. single click on the left pane links does not activate the article
2. if CHM extension is associated with the application , double clicking a file does not open it automatically , you still have to issue FILE/OpenSummary
Much better substitue to regular CHM viewer

"Does what it's supposed to. I needed it for .HLP files"
Version: Help Explorer Viewer 3
Pros
Actually allows the mouse wheel when viewing older .hlp files! Gives a fresh, modern look for users of the old Windows Help. It allows sidebar for a index listing in older hlp files too.
Cons
Didn't install properly. To make it work, I had to move (drag-n-drop) the "gre" folder into the "bin" folder of the program, located at:
C:\Program Files\HelpExplorer Software\Help Explorer 3Summary
The Windows Help program that came with Windows is horribly outdated and frustrating to use, this is a decent replacement for my case.
The download could have been WAY smaller... The program is actually packed very unprofessionally, I was surprised that it actually worked as well as it did. -
"It's great as a simple .chm viewer."
Version: Help Explorer Viewer 3
Pros
It suits my needs just as a reader. It's the simplest and quickest solution.
Cons
It would be nice if it had a search function but let's face it, it's FREE.
Summary
I like it because it is free and quick and simple and solved my problem of not being able to open .chm files in my Windows XP SP2 PC that I downloaded as part of a .zip application.
Update: HelpExplorer 3.0 viewer does have a search function. Wow! Couldn't ask for more.
Thanks to the developers of HelpExplorer 3.0 viewer.
