"Does not work in Win7-64?"
Version: HashTab 4.0
Pros
I have been using HashTab for a few years now and love it on my XP boxes and it works great.
Cons
I tried installing it on my main Windows 7-64bit and nothing, no File Hash Tab?
Summary
looking for other products that will work in a modern OS

"Absolutely beautiful software"
Version: HashTab 4.0
Pros
Does exactly what it says: calculates different types of hashes for a given file and even automatically compares hashes. Near seamless integration with Windows Explorer (addition of a tab to the properties window).
Cons
None so far.
Summary
Excellent software if you download and verify files often (ie. Linux ISO files, etc.)

"Superb addition to file Properties"
Version: HashTab 4.0
Pros
Simple. Intuitive. Unobtrusive but ever present. Wide range of hash functions. Performs comparison of computed hash values with a predefined hash value.or with the hash values for a second file.
Cons
None. What more could you want in a Tab?
Summary
Adds File Hashes Tab to Properties Window. Quickly computes wide range of hash functions when Tab is selected. Compares hashes with value pasted into Tab. Compares hash values for a second file when file is drag and dropped or pasted into Tab (or click Compare File button and navigate to the second file). Copy any hash value using right click.

"Version 4 does not work with Windows 2000"
Version: HashTab 4.0
Pros
Found version 1 elsewhere which did work with win2k and is very fast but does not have the drag and drop of version 4.
Cons
Version 4 only works with XP or better. A checksum utility might work better if just designed as an explorer right click context menu item.
Summary
Fast. Intuitive. sha1, md5, and crc32. Great for checking downloads. I could not find version 2 in the wayback machine. Too bad cnet doesn't keep older versions for download, or at least keep the system requirements up to date.

"Excellent - Simple and Sweet"
Version: HashTab 4.0
Pros
Right Click File > Properties > File Hashes > and it immediately starts creating the hashes > copy and paste the file you wish to compare into the box > Bingo, your done.
Cons
None, and I've been using it for 3 years.
Summary
Its so easy to use, it will likely throw you at first. I tried many other file hash programs and they were incredibly complicated.
